Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 839

Lunch was a lively affair.

Just as they were finishing up, Liana's phone buzzed. It was a group of her socialite friends asking her to come out.

Liana had originally intended to spend the entire afternoon buttering Henry up, but before she could decline, Henry smiled and waved her off. "Go on, you don't need to stay cooped up here with me. Go have fun with your friends."

Liana's face lit up. "Thanks, Dad!"

She sprinted upstairs, changed in record time, and grabbed her designer bag, rushing out the door like a hurricane.

Watching her leave with a fond smile, Henry grabbed a napkin and casually wiped his mouth. "I'm done. You can clear the table."

"Yes, sir."

Martha, who had been standing quietly to the side, immediately stepped forward to gather the plates.

Henry remained seated, slowly sipping his tea. But just as Martha leaned past him to reach a serving dish, she felt a large hand boldly grasp her curves.

A jolt of electricity shot through Martha's body. Her knees went weak, and she nearly dropped the stack of plates in her hands.

Keeping her head ducked, she scrambled to grab the remaining dishes, her face burning crimson as she practically sprinted back to the safety of the kitchen.

Once the dishes were washed and the counters wiped spotless, Martha finally untied her apron and hung it up.

But when she stepped back into the living room, Henry was gone.

Her stomach dropped, a flash of bitter disappointment washing over her.

Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket.

She pulled it out. A single text message glowed on the screen, the sender saved simply as 'Sir'.

[Come to my room.]

Martha's heart skipped a beat.

She instinctively glanced over her shoulder to ensure no one was watching, then slipped back into the kitchen. She grabbed a fresh bunch of grapes and a few apples from the fridge, arranged them on a silver platter, and headed upstairs.

The second floor was dead silent. All the manor staff were downstairs cleaning, and no one would dare come up at this hour.

Martha stopped in front of Henry's bedroom door and gave it two soft knocks.

"Sir, I've brought the fruit you asked for."

"Come in."

Martha took a deep breath, turned the knob, and stepped inside.

The moment the door clicked shut, a heavy force pinned her firmly against the wood.

The silver platter slipped from her hands, crashing to the floor. Grapes and apples scattered everywhere, rolling across the hardwood. One apple thudded against the edge of the nightstand before finally coming to a stop.
