Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 269

The ring fell dead silent.

As if on cue, everyone stood up and quickly exited the room.

Only Olive, never one to miss a good show, pressed her face against the door. With one eye swollen shut and her bleeding mouth stretched into a massive grin, she beamed. "Damn, the Boss's wife is a badass! Asking for a kiss in public..."

Because she had been out on assignment, she didn't know much about Nora, and the pitifully scarce intel she did have came from Arthur.

But Arthur was a vault. Getting him to talk was like pulling teeth, so despite her burning curiosity, she hadn't managed to dig up anything useful.

In her mind, Nora had always been this fragile, delicate flower who needed constant protection...

She never expected her to pull a move this bold!

Birds of a feather really did flock together!

Olive flattened herself against the crack in the door, her eye practically glued to the wood, wishing she could shove her entire head through.

"So badass! The Boss is gonna lose his mind."

Just as the words left her mouth, someone grabbed her by the scruff of her collar.

Her feet dangled off the ground. She kicked wildly and twisted around to see Arthur's deadpan face as he hauled her away like a trash bag.

"Hey, hey, hey! Artie, what are you doing!" Olive squirmed. "I haven't seen the good part yet!"

Arthur ignored her, dragging her down the hall by her collar, thoughtfully pulling the door shut behind them.

The corridor fell silent, leaving only the faint sound of footsteps and Olive's muffled curses echoing in the distance.

...

Inside the gym, the dim amber lights cast their intertwined shadows onto the floor.

Hudson felt as though half his body had gone numb.
