Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Nora’s entire body seized.

The man’s arm was solid and unyielding as it banded around her waist. His palm rested flat against her stomach, the intense heat melting through the sheer silk and searing her skin.

Even through their clothes, she could feel the hard, scorching lines of his chest pressing against her back.

“I’m not running…” she whispered, her voice betraying a pathetic tremble.

Hudson let out a low chuckle, his warm breath ghosting over the shell of her ear, sending a terrifying rush of electricity straight to her core.

Nora shuddered as a familiar sense of suffocation surged within her. It felt as if an invisible pair of hands was crushing her chest, making her breath shallow and frantic. Her fingers curled instinctively, nails digging into her palms as she tried to use the pain to suppress the drowning fear. Hudson’s thumb lazily stroked the curve of her waist, the pressure deliberate and dominant.

His thumb lazily stroked the curve of her waist, the pressure deliberate and dominant.

“So small,” he murmured, his breath hot against her neck. “I could span it with my hands.”

Nora’s face burned with a fiery blush.

But her body reacted entirely on its own. Her spine locked, muscles pulling painfully tight as every inch of her skin screamed at her to flee.

She wanted to pull away, but his arm anchored her against him. There was nowhere to go.

Then, without warning, Hudson tilted her chin and crashed his lips over hers.

Nora’s mind went entirely blank. Her hands shot up, pressing flat against his chest. Her fingertips dug into solid, hot muscle, the heat making her hands go numb.

The kiss rapidly deepened.

It was overwhelmingly aggressive, demanding her total surrender, yet so devastatingly seductive it made her knees weak.

Nora was forced to tilt her head back, her fingers blindly twisting into the fabric of his robe.

One delicate strap of her nightgown slipped down her shoulder, exposing the soft, pale curve beneath.

His lips left her mouth, trailing a scorching path down her jawline to press against her collarbone.

Nora gasped, unable to hold back a sharp intake of breath.

“Hudson…” she whimpered, her voice shattering.

Why did he stop?

Could it be that her mother was right? That the rumors were true, and he actually couldn’t perform?

The sound of the water running in the bathroom lasted an eternity.

Hudson stood under the showerhead, letting the freezing water hammer against his skull and rush down his violently tense chest. He squeezed his eyes shut, his throat working as he tried to swallow down the jagged breaths echoing over the sound of the water. The veins on the backs of his hands bulged against his skin.

He looked down, a dark, self-mocking smirk twisting his lips.

The iron-clad self-control he had prided himself on for years was utterly obliterated the second he touched her.

He had wanted her for so long. Now that he finally had her in his home, he had sworn to himself he would just hold her and sleep, terrified of scaring her away.

Who would have guessed a single kiss would unravel him this completely?

Unbidden, the image of her from just moments ago flashed in his mind.

Those wide, tear-glossed eyes, her swollen, thoroughly kissed lips, the breathtaking curves barely hidden beneath that pathetic excuse for a silk nightgown….
