Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 287

Nora’s heart raced at the sight of his lazy, predatory allure. She quickly looked away from the screen, her neck burning hot.

"Put... put your clothes on properly."

"I'm hot," Hudson leaned back on the sofa, his voice a slow drawl laced with a careless smirk.

"Didn't you just take a cold shower?"

"Still hot."

Nora bit her lip, refusing to take the bait, and steered the conversation back. "Where were we?"

"We were talking about how you saved a handsome boy just because he was good-looking."

Nora fell silent.

That was absolutely not what she meant.

"I was being kind and heroic," Nora glared at him. "I would have saved a stray cat or dog all the same."

Hudson let out a deep, rumbling laugh that vibrated through the speaker, sending a shiver down her spine.

"So what happened to this older boy? Did he ever come back for you?"

Nora shook her head. "No. Once he healed, he left. I never saw him again."

"Have you ever thought about what would happen if he really did come back for you?"

Nora blinked, pondering for a moment. "Probably not. It's been so many years. He's probably forgotten all about it."

Hudson didn't say anything, but the corners of his lips quirked upward, a fleeting emotion flashing through his gaze.

"Don't just make me talk. What about you? Tell me about your childhood," Nora peeked out from her blanket, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Hudson lounged on the sofa, resting one long leg on the coffee table in a posture of total ease. "There's nothing much to tell about my childhood."

"How is that possible?"

"How about I tell you a story about the time I was saved by a beautiful little girl under an Old Locust Tree?"

"Hudson!"

Seeing her flustered, defensive reaction on the screen, Hudson's smile widened. "I'll stop teasing you. Let's talk business."

Nora puffed out her cheeks, refusing to answer.

"For the next few days, no matter where you go, make sure Arthur or Olive is with you. Do not go running off alone."

She kept her face stern. "Got it."

"Eat your meals on time. Don't just grab whatever's quick."

"Okay."
