"Jude! Where did you go? I've been looking for you everywhere."

Jude subtly extracted his arm and took a half-step back to establish some distance.

"Just went to say hello to a friend."

Liana pouted and tried to grab his sleeve again, but he seamlessly dodged her advance.

Watching the exchange from afar, Grant clicked his tongue.

"Looks like the lady is willing, but the gentleman isn't interested."

Sebastian chimed in, "The Fairchild Family is clearly trying to use their adopted daughter to fulfill the marriage pact, but it seems Jude isn't having it."

"The original arranged marriage was with the legitimate daughter of the Fairchilds, not an adopted ward," Grant scoffed. "Jude might look like a gentle, easygoing guy, but he's stubborn to his core. Once he makes up his mind, a team of horses couldn't drag him away."

Nora listened quietly from the sidelines. Having finished her juice, she reached for another glass.

Hudson reached over and pulled the glass away. "No more. You're going to give yourself a stomachache."

"Oh." Nora obediently let go, but her eyes kept darting back toward Jude and Liana.

She couldn't shake the feeling that Finnian's girlfriend looked incredibly familiar, but no matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn't pinpoint where they had met.
