Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 575

Liam stared blankly at the blubbering mess that was Cade.

He had been so arrogant just days ago, but now he was sobbing on the floor, begging for mercy.

"I really know I was wrong. Please, please beg Mr. Lancaster for me. I'll do anything! I'll be his slave if I have to!"

"It's too late."

Liam looked down at him. "You're going to live the rest of your life in regret. Every day, you'll regret what you did, and you'll remember that the Whitman family was destroyed by your hands."

"No... no..." Cade shook his head wildly, reaching out again, but Liam sidestepped him.

"Move out within three days. Otherwise, I'll have you arrested for trespassing."

With that, Liam turned and walked out.

The door clicked shut behind him, cutting off Cade's furious, despairing screams.

"Archer, pull the security footage from the estate and that club. Dig up the entire city if you have to, but find that bastard."

"Understood."

...

Soon after, Liam reported his findings to Hudson.

Hudson was typing away on his laptop, handling business. When he heard Liam's report, his brow furrowed slightly. "Are you telling me no one knows this 'Second Young Master'? And the license plates were fake?"

"...Yes, Boss."

Hudson let out a cold scoff. "Looks like he came prepared. He put a lot of work into this."

Liam pressed his lips together. "What do we do now?"

"Keep digging."

"Yes, sir."

Hudson noticed Liam hadn't hung up. He raised an eyebrow. "What is it? Something else?"

"Boss, do you have any of the medicine Dr. Vane left behind last time?"

"No."

"Then I'll contact him immediately and have him send a few more doses."

"Fine."

After hanging up, Liam dialed Dr. Vane's number.

It rang several times before it connected. The line was filled with the sound of rushing wind. "Hello? Who is this?"

"Dr. Vane, it's Liam Harrison."

"Oh, right! You're that super-rich doctor, right?" Dr. Vane's voice echoed with sudden realization.

Liam remained silent.

He had no idea why he was saved in Dr. Vane's contacts as 'the super-rich doctor.'

It was probably because when he treated Hudson last time, Dr. Vane had only asked for a ten-thousand-dollar fee but ended up walking away with over two hundred thousand.

"Mr. Lancaster. My sister Liana is having a gala tomorrow night to celebrate her award and to announce the upcoming marriage between the Fairchild and Vaughn families. Are you and Nora free? Come join the fun," Finnian's deep voice came through the line.

The impending alliance between the Fairchild and Vaughn families was no surprise to Hudson.

However, he remembered Nora telling him that Liana's award-winning design was suspected to be plagiarized from Sienna Quigley's late boyfriend.

He raised an eyebrow. "A gala? What exactly are you celebrating?"

"Liana recently won an international architectural award. The family threw together a small celebration for her."

"An international award? Are you absolutely certain your adopted sister actually earned it? If a plagiarism scandal breaks out, it'll be quite the show. Can the Fairchild family afford that kind of humiliation?"

Finnian's tone tinged with helplessness. "Can't you just wish us well? Anyway, I've delivered the message. I already had Sienna give the invitation directly to your wife. Remember to show up tomorrow. Don't be late."

"You gave the invitation to my wife, yet you're pretending to ask for my opinion? I always do whatever my wife says."

"It's rare to see a man this obsessed with his wife. I really wish I could have a brother-in-law like you."

"In your dreams," Hudson replied smoothly.

Finnian chuckled softly. "Alright, the message is delivered. I'm hanging up. Make sure you and Nora arrive early tomorrow. My Grandmother has been saying she wants to meet you two."

"Will do."

...

The following evening, Northampton's most exclusive hotel banquet hall was ablaze with lights, filled with glamorous guests and the scent of expensive perfume.

Massive crystal chandeliers illuminated the space like daylight. Floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides offered a sweeping view of Northampton's glittering skyline against the fading dusk.
