Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 647

River snapped his head around in panic.

Olive barged into the room like a hurricane. Before River could even react, she drove her fist straight into his face.

Caught completely off guard, River stumbled backward from the impact, slamming heavily against the safe with a dull thud.

Archer followed right on her heels, delivering a brutal kick to the back of River's knees.

River collapsed onto one knee. Before he could even think to struggle, Olive seized his wrist and twisted it ruthlessly behind his back.

"Let me go!" River roared, infuriated. "You..."

Before he could get another word out, Olive shoved his face hard against the floor. "Shut up and eat dirt!"

Seeing her team secure the room, Nora knew that Hudson's men had already neutralized every single one of River's hidden guards!

"Archer, open the safe."

"Yes, Madam."

Archer immediately marched over to the safe, copying the fingerprints River had left on the scanner. After a few rapid combinations, a sharp *click* echoed through the room.

The mechanical lock was open!

"Madam, there's still an iris scan."

Hearing that, Olive immediately grabbed River by the hair, dragging his face toward the scanner. However, River squeezed his eyes tightly shut, refusing to allow the machine to read his iris.

"Damn it, Archer, hold him down! I'll pry his eyelids open!"

River thrashed wildly in panic at the threat.

Seeing the two of them struggle to get it done, Nora finally spoke, her voice ice-cold. "River, are you going to open it yourself, or should I have them gouge your eyes out to scan them?"

Archer and Olive both paused, staring at Nora in stunned silence. For a fleeting second, they swore they were looking at their terrifying boss.

The two exchanged a look—*Holy crap!*

*That sheer, terrifying aura was identical, wasn't it?!*

River looked up, his face a mixture of terror and fury, covered in scratches from Olive's nails, some of them bleeding.

"You... you were faking it this entire time?"

His Adam's apple bobbed heavily. "Nora, you really had me fooled..."

Before returning to the country, he had run comprehensive background checks on Hudson and everyone around him, including Nora.

Yet everyone...

Himself included, had completely fallen for her delicate flower persona. Even Hudson's perpetually scheming Uncle Lawrence had been completely blinded by it.

But in reality...

She had the most vicious bite of them all!

Nora let out a light chuckle. "So, you've figured it out?"

She offered Olive a subtle nod.

Olive understood immediately. Gripping River's twisted wrist, she hauled him up from the floor and shoved him toward the safe.

Taking a deep, shuddering breath, River leaned forward and aligned his eye with the scanner. The machine beeped, and the heavy door popped open once more.

Meanwhile, back at the Aspen Springs Hotel.

Grant and Sebastian were lounging in a private room on the second floor, lazily throwing darts to pass the time.

"Do you really think Hudson and Nora actually got divorced? I just can't believe it."

Grant threw a dart, then turned to Sebastian. "Those two are practically glued to each other on a normal day. How could they just divorce out of nowhere?"

"Mind your own business."

Sebastian snatched a dart from Grant's hand and tossed it, nailing a perfect bullseye.

"If you're really that bored, go rake the leaves in the courtyard."

"Screw you."

As the two of them bickered, the door to the room swung open.

Hudson strolled in leisurely. Having spent time outdoors, his heavy coat still carried the crisp chill of the winter air.

Grant and Sebastian immediately dropped their darts and walked over to greet him.

But when they noticed the document in his hand, they froze, completely speechless for several seconds. "Hud... Hudson, is that..."

Hudson ignored them. He casually tossed the divorce certificate onto the coffee table.

"Hudson, did you and Nora... actually get a divorce?"

Grant rushed over and sat down next to him. "Wait... isn't this way too rash? Nora is so sweet and understanding. Couldn't you have just groveled a little? Why take it all the way to a divorce?"

Sebastian remained silent, but his expression clearly echoed Grant's sentiments.
