Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 717

Hudson's kisses trailed from the corner of her lips down the side of her neck, his ragged breaths sending a thrilling weakness straight to her knees.

Outside the window, the fireworks continued to erupt. The brilliant flashes of light poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass, casting a rippling, colorful glow across the ceiling.

He slipped the straps of her nightgown down her shoulders, using the shifting light as cover to turn her around, pressing her hands flat against the cold glass of the window.

Dazzling fireworks exploded outside, while a burning-hot chest pressed tight against her back.

Nora felt like she was being split in two—half of her anchored to the freezing pane, the other half consumed by his scorching breath.

The fireworks burst before her eyes, shattering into thousands of glowing embers before blurring into a swirling cascade of colors.

She could feel his fingers gripping her waist, the overwhelming, absolute dominance making it nearly impossible for her to stay on her feet.

"Hudson..." Her voice trembled slightly.

"Yeah, I'm here," he whispered, guiding her hand so she could feel his heartbeat. "Right here. Do you feel it?"

Another massive firework detonated outside, bathing the night sky in a brilliant golden-red hue.

Just then, Soren's voice echoed from downstairs. "Olive, where's my lady?"

Olive, currently squatting in the yard preparing to set off a ground spinner, didn't even look up. "Upstairs, probably. Why?"

Soren fell silent for a second, his footsteps already moving toward the stairs. "I'll go check."

But when he stepped into the living room, it was completely empty.

Soren glanced toward the second floor, pursed his lips, and called out from the bottom of the stairs. "My lady..."

Nora's palms instantly broke out in a cold sweat. She frantically pushed back against Hudson, lowering her voice. "Stop... Soren is coming up..."

Hudson lowered his eyes, the faint amusement in his gaze flickering in the shadows. "Ignore him."

"Hudson!"

The footsteps had reached the top of the stairs, drawing closer by the second.

But just as Soren was about to take the final step, Artie appeared in the living room out of nowhere. "Soren, come back down."

Soren looked confused. "I'm looking for my lady..."

"The Boss and his wife are talking in there. Don't go up."

Soren tilted his head to look at Artie, his brow twitching slightly. "...Talking?"

"Yeah," Artie lied smoothly. "The Boss is discussing something important with her. Let's go out back and set off more fireworks."

The gaze stayed fixed on the tightly shut bedroom door for two long seconds before Soren lowered his eyes. "...Okay."

The footsteps retreated, descending the stairs and vanishing back toward the courtyard.

Inside the bedroom, Nora let out a massive sigh of relief. Her back was slick with nervous sweat, feeling like a fish just pulled out of the water, gasping desperately for air.

Hudson looked down at her reddened ears and let out a low chuckle. He leaned in, his voice thick and husky. "Were you scared, honey?"

"...Hudson!"

Who knew how much time had passed, but suddenly, the centerpiece fireworks they had reserved for the grand finale erupted in full force. A cascade of shimmering gold showered down from the sky, illuminating the entire estate as brightly as the midday sun.

Wrapped tightly in a thick blanket and tucked into Hudson's embrace, Nora listened to the faint, sporadic pops of distant fireworks as sleepiness slowly washed over her.

Hudson looked down at her, pulling the blanket up a bit higher, and pressed a feather-light kiss to her forehead. "I love you, honey..."

Nora snuggled deeper into his chest, mumbling drowsily in response. "Mhm, I love you too..."

That single sentence sent a rush of heat straight through Hudson.

And the intoxicating, incredibly alluring scent of his wife wasn't helping either.

Thinking back to how he had pushed her to the edge against the floor-to-ceiling window earlier, making her barely able to stand... if he started again now, she wouldn't be able to leave the house tomorrow.

Hudson held himself back as long as he could, but eventually, his control snapped. He slipped under the blankets and began his intimate assault.

Nora was practically asleep. When she suddenly felt his movements, she couldn't understand where this burst of energy came from.

"Hudson..." She tried to push his head away. "Stop messing around... I need to sleep..."

A muffled, ragged breath came from beneath the sheets. "You sleep, I'll do the work."

"...Hudson!"

He didn't have the heart to exhaust her entirely. After a while, he got out of bed and headed into the bathroom.

It took him until well past 2:00 AM to finish up.

Bringing a faint wave of damp, clean air with him, Hudson lifted the covers and slipped back inside. He couldn't resist pressing a kiss to his soft, beautiful wife as she subconsciously rolled back into his arms, and soon, he too drifted into a deep sleep.
