Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 766

Hunter watched in sheer disbelief.

This utterly devoted husband was the feared Butcher of San Francisco?

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Love truly was blind.

While he was busy marveling at the sight, Hunter glanced to his side and noticed Vincent staring intensely at Nora, looking like he had just seen a ghost.

"...What are you doing?" Hunter set his teacup down. "Your eyes are about to pop out of your skull."

Vincent didn't seem to hear him, his gaze glued to Nora.

After a long moment, he slowly blinked, his Adam's apple bobbing. His voice was so faint it was practically a whisper. "...Mom?"

Hunter: "???"

He leaned over, waving a hand in front of Vincent's face, and muttered under his breath, "Are you out of your mind? That's Hudson's wife. Who the hell are you calling Mom?"

Vincent snapped out of it, blinking rapidly. He rubbed his eyes and looked again.

Nora had just taken the peeled orange from Hudson. In the warm yellow light of the private room, her profile looked incredibly soft and gentle.

Vincent stared at her profile for a few more seconds, then slowly lowered his hand, his frown deepening.

It wasn't right...

Just a second ago, he had sworn he saw a face identical to his mother's youth.

But looking closer, the resemblance wasn't as striking. The facial structure was similar, but their auras were entirely different.

His mother had a fierce, radiant beauty—wild and blazing like fire.

But the woman in front of him...

She was quiet and gentle, like a tranquil spring warmed by the sun.

Vincent lowered his eyes, his fingers curling into tight fists.

He felt like he was losing his mind.

That monster Hudson had terrified him so badly his brain was malfunctioning. Now he was hallucinating his mother everywhere.

Seeing his dazed expression, Hunter kicked him under the table. "Hey, snap out of it. That's Hudson's wife. Stop staring. It's rude."

Vincent finally withdrew his gaze and obediently picked up his teacup. He took a huge gulp, only to scald his tongue. He forced himself to swallow the boiling tea, his entire face scrunching up in agony.

Watching him suffer, Hunter couldn't help but laugh, leaning in to whisper, "Are you for real?"
