Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 781

Seeing Hudson Lancaster remain silent, Nora Reed pressed her lips together. "Well, I'm going to hang up now. I'll be back soon."

Without waiting for him to speak, she ended the call.

Nora let out a long breath. Listening to the engagement ceremony outside reaching its climax, her heart was still pounding with anxiety when her phone suddenly rang again.

It was Hudson!

Taking a deep breath, Nora finally pressed the answer button. "What is it?"

"Darling, where are you?"

"I..."

"Open the door."

Nora stared blankly at the door of her room, feeling her heart leap into her throat.

No way, right?

Pushing aside her shock, she quickly got up and opened the door.

But the hallway was completely empty.

Nora frowned in confusion. "Hudson, you..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a large hand grabbed her wrist and dragged her straight into the adjacent break room.

The door clicked shut behind her, instantly muffling the loud chatter and piano music from the hall.

Before Nora could even process what was happening, an arm wrapped firmly around her waist.

She was guided backward until her shoulders hit the cold wall.

She instinctively looked up, freezing when her gaze met a pair of sharp, dark eyes.

"Hud... Hudson?"

Recognizing him, Nora relaxed slightly. She tried to take a half-step sideways to break the overwhelming intimate tension between them.

But Hudson shifted his stance, his knee pressing forward to completely block her escape route, caging her in.

He looked down at her, his Adam's apple bobbing as his voice dropped to a husky whisper. "What are you doing here, huh?"

Trapped between the wall and his solid chest, Nora's heart raced so fast she thought it might burst.

She opened her mouth to explain, but the moment her lips parted, he crashed his mouth down on hers.

She shrank back from the intensity of his kiss, but his hand cradled the back of her head, his fingers threading through her hair to pull her closer.

Breathless under his demanding lips, Nora pressed her hands against his chest and pushed weakly, murmuring her protest, "There are... people outside..."

Her words were swallowed by a deeper, more punishing kiss.

The dressing room and the banquet hall were separated by only a thin wall. The muffled sounds of music and guests laughing seeped through the barrier.
