Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 809

The Duke stood perfectly still for five agonizing seconds. Then, he cleared his throat, adjusted his lapels, and his thunderous glare melted into a terrifyingly genial smile. "A misunderstanding. This was all just a big misunderstanding."

He clapped Vincent forcefully on the shoulder. "This boy has always had a thick skull. A little tap on the head is nothing. Since you're all friends here, let's consider the matter settled."

Hudson: "???"

Nora: "???"

Without another word, the Duke jerked his chin at his massive security detail and marched them all right back out the way they came.

Silence descended on the corridor once more.

Vincent watched his father vanish around the corner, letting out a long breath. When he turned back, he was met with the intense, questioning stares of both Hudson and Nora. He rubbed his nose awkwardly. "...What?"

"What on earth did you just say to him?" Nora asked, completely baffled. "Why did his entire personality just flip?"

Vincent shrugged. "Nothing major. Just mentioned that Hudson is the guy my mother wants to meet."

Nora blinked. "...That's it?"

"That's it."

Nora and Hudson exchanged a look. The legendary, terrifying Duke of Rothesay was completely whipped by his wife?

Seeing their stunned expressions, Vincent laughed. "Well? Doesn't that make you want to meet her even more? Let's set up a time... She's been wanting to see you two anyway."

Hudson raised a casual eyebrow. "Sure. Once I wrap up the situation at the mine, I'll make the time."

Vincent grinned widely. "Perfect. I'll wait for your call."

Mission accomplished!

...

After sending Vincent off, Hudson and Nora climbed into the back of their car.

"Vincent's family is certainly interesting..." Nora noted with a slight smile.

Hudson didn't reply. He just lowered his gaze, gently playing with her soft, pale fingers, his eyes narrowing slightly in thought.
