Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 837

Finnian let out a cold, sharp laugh. "My tone? Which part of what I just said wasn't the absolute truth?"

"You—"

Henry's chest heaved with fury as he pointed a trembling finger right at Finnian's face. "You ungrateful bastard! Are you my son, or are you Hudson's? Why do you think I took The Ivory Pill? I did it for the Fairchild legacy! Without the capital from that gold mine, how the hell are we supposed to fund our microchip research? Do you know what kind of financial black hole that is? You think I enjoy playing the villain?"

"And the TBM licensing? The market share in Westland? Was that all for the family, too?"

Finnian's voice cracked like a whip. "Did you ever stop to think about Evangeline's position? If you extort Hudson like this, how is she supposed to survive in the Lancaster family?"

"Once the Fairchild family becomes an unstoppable powerhouse, who would dare mistreat Evangeline? If Hudson tries to make her life miserable over a business deal, she can just divorce him! No daughter of mine needs a man to survive!"

"Divorce?"

Finnian stared at him, utterly disgusted. "So you knew exactly how much this would damage her, and you did it anyway. Right?"

The living room plunged into a suffocating silence, the air freezing over.

Henry's face burned crimson as he glared at his son. "I did all of this for you! Who do you think is going to inherit this empire?"

"I don't want an empire built on draining my sister's blood..."

"Fine! Great! Wonderful!" Henry exploded, snatching a heavy crystal ashtray off the table and violently hurling it at the floor. "Then get the hell out!"

The ashtray shattered violently at Finnian's feet, sending shards of glass flying across the rug.

Expressionless, Finnian turned on his heel and walked out the door.

Henry stood seething until the roar of Finnian's engine faded down the driveway. Consumed by rage, he grabbed a glass and smashed it against the wall.

"Traitorous little prick! Thirty years I raised him, and he throws it all away for a girl who just showed up yesterday!"

He paced the living room like a caged animal. Still furious, he kicked the coffee table leg, wincing as the impact sent a shock of pain up his foot. Cursing under his breath, he dropped into a chair, grabbed a cigarette from the box, and flicked his lighter three times before it finally caught.

A thick cloud of smoke obscured his dark, furious expression.

Right at the peak of his anger, his phone vibrated on the table.
