Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 95

Nora tore herself out of Hudson's arms, her face burning. She instinctively stumbled back two steps but bumped into the armrest of the sofa. She nearly fell backward, only steadying herself when Hudson's quick reflexes caught her by the wrist.

"Careful," the man's voice was husky, every syllable laced with a magnetic draw that made her ears burn even hotter.

Nora shook off his grip and sidestepped, only stopping when she had put what she considered a safe distance between them.

Right now, she wanted nothing more than for the floor to open up and swallow her whole. The blush that started at her ears had flooded down her neck, turning even her collarbones a soft pink.

But Hudson wasn't about to let her off the hook so easily.

He leaned down, closing the distance to her ear, his voice low and raspy. "You might want to touch up your makeup before heading out."

Nora froze, instinctively looking up at him.

Hudson pressed his thumb to the corner of his mouth, slowly swiping it away. A faint smear of soft pink lipstick transferred onto his skin.

"..."

Nora felt like a bomb had just exploded in her brain, blasting away every coherent thought until even the tips of her ears were burning crimson.

She spun on her heel and practically sprinted toward the bathroom.

The door clicked shut behind her. Gripping the edges of the sink, Nora stared at her reflection. Her face was so impossibly red she wanted to pack her bags and leave the planet.

Her lips were a vibrant crimson, but it wasn't from her lipstick.

It was from being kissed.

Her bottom lip was slightly swollen and glistening, looking thoroughly ravaged—a dead giveaway of exactly what she had just been up to.

She wrenched the faucet on and splashed handfuls of freezing water onto her face, but it did nothing to put out the fire in her cheeks.

It took her a long time before she could finally dig her lipstick out of her purse and reapply it in the mirror.

Her hands were still shaking slightly, and it took two tries just to line her lips properly.

She took a deep breath, and then another. Once the flush on her face had mostly faded, she finally pulled open the bathroom door.

The suite was empty.

Only Arthur was standing by the door. Seeing her step out, he gave a respectful nod. "Ma'am, Mr. Lancaster said for you to head to the dining room next door. The food will be ready shortly."

"Where is he?"
