Chapter 109

-Andi-

That little coffee session I had with Siobhan before the day started was my favorite part of my day. It was a little peace,

because after that, as the tables in the office were filling out, I was once again subjected to side eyes, probi judgement and gossip.

I’ve been here for two weeks, and somehow, everyone hates me like I was the villain in their story. The only exce that was Siobhan and Joyce, the cleaning lady.

On the first day, their prying eyes were subtle, but when they saw that I was given a table in the office, they knews was up with me. In their defence, I didn’t go through the same process they did. This position was given to me be needed a decent job for Beckett Halesgirlfriend, not because I was qualified for it.

By now, everyone knew I was Beckett Hale’s girlfriend. No one has spoken about it publicly, but if you peek at the pages and sites, you’d connect the dots. It didn’t help that everyone’s clients were either into sports or modeling T were the only thing that was keeping them from spreading lies about me on those social media gossip pages and gr

Nobody here has done anything more than judge me. None of them reached out to make conversation with me eit with this kind of environment, I know it’s high time they do more.

But Lena, the receptionist, was different. She saw me when I applied for the housekeeping job at Beckett. She was the one to give that sour look, and she gives me the worst death glare as if she’s planning to kill me with her keyboard.

If anyone voiced out that I don’t deserve to be here, I’ll plead guilty. But life took me here, so I will stay and fight each long as Siobhan allows me to work for her.

Every Monday morning, Siobhan holds a meeting in the office. Just a little update on how each client is doing and the problems they are facing.

I was reading the report on Beckett’s current standing. Siobhan put this together, and the report itself was intimidating says here that there are 10 teams trying to offer him a new contract, each worth more than 50 million dollars a year. As peruse the file, I can’t help but question my decisions. I feel smaller with each big word pertaining to Beckett in each sentence. He’s like a god living on Mount Olympus, and I’m a mere pheasant who’s trying hard not to die on earth.

As I finished reading the file, the office was already filled, and Lena was fixing the huge TV screen. It’s attaches to the wall beside the company’s mission, vision, goal, and the names of the agents working for Siobhan’s company

My name isn’t on that list yet, and I feel a bit relieved that it isn’t. This means I can still back out, right?

Once Lena finished turning on the TV, she started handing out folders to each agent. She handed them with a huge, swECT smile, but when she reached my table, she gave me a death glare and dropped it on my table instead.

This was my first meeting, and she obviously hates that idea.

She strutted away with a flip of her pretty curls, hips swinging in that tooshort skirt and skyscraper shoes, Siobhan exited her office, and everyone turned to the boss and greeted her with good morning.

Siobhan was different when she was in front of her agents. She’s prim and proper, and she rarely miles

She started with a curt greeting and called each agent by their name. They laid out the report for their clieu, and Siobhan would ask them questions on how they handled each problem. It was about an hour before the roll call reached me

Siobhan’s eyes were speaking to me as she called my name. She introduced me as her trainee, and it felt like first grade all over again, where I had to speak about myself in front of so many kids in pretty dresses and cute accessories.

I rubbed my palms on the fabric of my pants. I made sure to wear nice clothes from the collection Siobhan and Lila together: beige pants and a white ruffled top. In my head, this look was presentable. I wanted my office mates to take seriously, but I don’t think any attire would change how they see me.

I cleared my throat and dropped my gaze to the file in my hand. Siobhan told me to just read this, but my words on were moving up and down, left to right.

The beating of my heart was so loud, I swear it was out of my body, and everyone could hear how my nerves were p every part of me. My surroundings were tunneling as I scanned the faces of those who were already judging me Wo gaze landed on Siobhan. I saw how worried she looked. That snapped me out of my fear. I tipped my chin up and ou reading the file. The office was too quiet. The echo of my voice was deafening, and when I was done talking, the grin on everyone’s face only intensified.

So what is your take on the matter?Valerie cut through the silence in the office. She was the brunette with cat eyes thick lips. She’s one of the best agents Siobhan has. In fact, she handles seven clients at once.

W… what?I turned to her with wide eyes.

She was sitting on the edge of her desk as she put me under her scrutiny. Should Beckett take the offer from LA! The where he’ll earn more, right? She asked everyone, hiding her aim to humiliate me in the guise of a friendly question They’ve been trying to sign him for five years now, and they doubled his current contract on Brighton

Sitting on the desk beside Valeria, Siobhan was watching me, waiting for me to ask for her help.

I would advise him not to take it,I answered Valerie, and everyone snapped their gaze back on me.

Valerie raised an eyebrow at me. And why is that?

I swallowed hard. I know too little about being an agent and about how these contracts work, but I know Beckett. more I should.

Beckett doesn’t play baseball for money. He’d been in Brighton City for over two decades, not just because of the mone but because the team had given him the opportunity to grow.

And that is your expert opinion?Valerie scoffed. This meeting quickly turned into a debate between Valerie and me, an she’s crushing me.

No, Valerie. I am not an expert here. In fact, I am a newbie, but aren’t we here to speak for our clients And I believe my client would have the same opinion about this topic.

Oh, because you know him too well?Valerie shot back. I bet you can even tell us the size of his shoe.

The

pun in her words made my stomach cave in. It was a sly insult rooting from the fact that I am more than just an agent for Beckett. Everyone in the room laughed and shook their heads. My cheeks burned with humiliation because she want telling the truth. I know Beckett’s shoe size, both real and as an idiomatic expression

Settle down, everyone,Siobhan said, shutting everyone up. Can anyone tell me what was so funny about Andi’s report

and answers?

I didn’t need Siobhán to defend me. This would only spark more hate toward me. I was begging her not to make a fuss out of this with my pleading gaze, but Siobhan wouldn’t even look in my direction. She’s glaring at Valerie.

Oh no. Siobhan, please don’t.

No one answered Siobhan. You can’t hear anything but crickets.

Valerie?Siobhan called Valerie. Don’t you know Kent’s shoe size?
