Maid For Beckett Catching The Baseball Legend’s Heart novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

-Andi-

No one dared look in Siobhan’s direction apart from me. It’s clear as the day. Everyone is guilty of the same crime that Valerie had committed.

I don’t think Siobhan should scold anyone for figuring out that I am indeed romantically connected to Beckett, which is w I am in her company now. But I get where Siobhan was coming from. Bullying should never be accepted, even in a workplace.

The meeting resumed, but the atmosphere had shifted. There were five more agents after me, and their tone as they laid o their report was flat, sounding like they’d rather work in the field today than be here in this meeting.

When it finally ended, I heard everyone sigh in relief, as if all of them had been under so much pressure they could finally breathe now that it was done.

Everyone scrambled back to their tables, phones in hand, and eyes focused on their computers. I stayed seated, hands trembling under the desk.

I’m grateful for what Siobhan did, but I didn’t want to be defended. I wanted to earn my place in this company, but as mu as I hated the attention, one thing was painfully clear now: I wasn’t invisible anymore.

Everyone went back to their work, apart from Valerie and her friends, Sidney and Denice. The two went to comfort Valerie at her table, as if she were the victim and not the bully.

They were whispering, and Sidney and Denice were sliding a glare in my direction now and then.

Valerie,” Siobhan called. My office.

I chased Siobhan with an aching stare as she disappeared through her office door.

Valerie shot to her feet and cast a daggered glare in my direction, one that said this wasn’t over. Then she flipped her hair and strutted towards Siobhan’s office.

Sidney and Denice followed Valerie with a worried glance, and when Siobhan’s office door shut, they turned to me with death glares. They charged at my desk like two bulls that see nothing but red. Sidney, the blond one, was the first to speak.

What did you do?she asked, crossing her arms in her middle, her blazing brown eyes burning me in my chair.

What?I asked them, confused. Me?

Yes, you,Denice, the one with blond highlights on her brown hair, fired. She stepped forward until the front of her tights collided with the edge of my desk and looked down at me through the tips of her nose. She was so close I could smell her jasmine perfume.

This feels like high school all over again, where Valerie was the cheer captain who put a target on my back, while these two were her minions.

Siobhan would never act like that if you didn’t run your mouth,” Denice explained.

She probably badmouthed Valerie,Sidney suggested.

Yup, definitely bullies from high school, but I am not a high schooler anymore who wallows in her sad life story and thinks that the world would care about her if she were sad all the time. The world doesn’t give a shit unless you give a shit, so I rose to my feet and looked down at them.

Chapter 110

I was half a foot taller than both of them because of my there jorts shoes. These shoes were killing me all morning. I didnthink they would give me an advantage in this situation

You don’t know me, I wanted, denching my but at my wide. So don’t speak to me as if you do. But here’s a fun fact1 smirked. I know your kind. Been dealing with bellies all my life, and all of you have the same face. You will belittle anyon in your path, and when they fight back, you blame them for fighting back

Sidney scoffed, and Denice recoiled, stepping away from my desk as though I had slapped her. You How dare you accuse us of bullying?

That’s right, Denice seconded. We are no bullies

I rolled my eyes and tipped my chin up at them. Right. My bad. But you’ve been with this company for two years, right? You know by now that no one can tell Siobhan what to do. Does this means that you are judging our bow, too

I stood taller and waited for their response, but all I heard was silence. When I looked around the office, everyone was watching the scene that these two had started

Here’s my advice to you,” I said, gathering my laptop and the files I need to study and work on today. I still don’t know where I’m going, but I can’t work in this kind of environment today. If you can’t back up your accusations with evidence. better keep it quiet until you can prove I did what you said I did.

I didn’t wait for their answer and walked out of the office, feeling the weight of everyone’s eyes on me

Being seen this way sucks. I’d rather they didn’t pay attention to me when I’m around and talk behind my back. I could jus ignore them. I was good at doing that, but then this was always bound to happen. This job isn’t for me, not now at least. I know that since day one, but I kept on holding onto Siobhan’s kindness towards me, but I don’t think I can hold on to it an longer without losing myself.

I walked down the block towards the supermarket near Siobhan’s office. I couldn’t even park this car in front of the office because I knew this would spark another issue about my relationship with Beckett

I leaned on the door and sighed, tipping my face up towards the sky. My mind was filled with so many whatifs, hows, and whys. I know I don’t belong in Siobhan’s company, but where do I really belong? Where do I want to belong? I had never p any thought into what I wanted because I was too busy surviving

Is the sky that pretty?A voice echoed from the car beside mine as the windows slowly rolled down

I gasped in surprise, startled at the sudden intrusion of someone else into my moment of silence.

As the windows rolled down completely, I recognized the man inside. Cole Maldini

Cole,I gasped, throat still tight from my shock. I placed a hand on my chest while I gripped the strap of my messenger bay with the other, willing my heartbeat to slow down. Whatwhat are you doing here!

Cole smirked and moved his face into the light so I could profile him clearly, You texted me, remember!

I did?I hushed, circling back into the events this morning. OhBut I asked you if I could call, not like this.I explained

I was in the area, so I thought of dropping by Siobhan’s office. Then I saw your car here, so I thought I should wait for you.His explanation added more query into my already cramped mind.

He was in the area? But he’s wearing a suit and tie, although the tie is loose on the neck and the two top buttons of his dress shirt are undone. He looked like he hadn’t slept yet, if you asked me. Then he saw my car? How did he know this was mine? And he said he would wait for me. How long had he been here, and how long does he plan on staying? But I didn’t ask him any of that. I just nodded and smiled. Ahh.

His smile was knowing. So, you free now?

I blinked at him. What?”

Free…. you wanted to talk? There’s a little crease between his eyebrows,

I shifted from one foot to the other, debating whether this was a good idea. Technically, I should will be working and I should still be in the office. And there’s the idea of Cole being Cole. He’s got that swagger with a dangerous aura, and he’s go that smile that says trust me at your own risk.

But then again, this day was already shitty. Can it get worse than that? So I nodded and asked. There’s a coffer dog se blocks down, meet you there?

It’s better that I choose a location far from Valerie and her minionsreach. I don’t want them taking pictures of Cole and me and making more gossip about me.
