Chapter 104

Luna’s POV

I was still thinking about everything Theo had told me earlier as we continued walking through the pack grounds together. The more time I spent around him today, the more confused I became about him as a person. Before this. Theo had alway seemed easy to figure out. He had the reputation of flirting with everything that breathed, smiled like life was one big joke. drove a ridiculously loud car, and acted like nothing in the world could possibly bother him.

I had honestly assumed there wasn’t much more to him beyond that, but after seeing the way he acted around his mother and hearing the things he admitted earlier. I had to accept that maybe I had judged him foo quickly. It annoyed me a little because I preferred things simple. It was easier to keep my distance from someone when I could confidently tell myself exactly who they were.

Thankfully, Theo seemed to sense that my brain was already overloaded because he stopped trying to tease me every two seconds and simply walked beside me while occasionally pointing things out around the estate.

We eventually rounded another corner, and my attention immediately shifted when I spotted a large basketball court not too far away. It looked modern and expensive like everything else in the packhouse. The court was surrounded by tall fencing, and there were several basketballs lying around on one side like people had recently been using them. Just seeing made something nostalgic stir inside me because it had been a long time since I had played.

Theo noticed where I was looking almost instantly. You play?he asked casually, slipping both hands into the pockets of h eans while watching me carefully.

I glanced at him before shrugging lightly. A little,I admitted. I used to play before I focused more on track.

One of his brows immediately lifted in interest. You played basketball?

I nodded. Not professionally or anything. Mostly in middle school and early high school days. I liked it for a while, but eventually I realized running was what I actually enjoyed more.

To my surprise, Theo suddenly looked ridiculously excited by that information. That’s actually hot,he muttered under hi breath while grinning at me.

I rolled my eyes instantly. You really shouldn’t say things like that so casually.

What?he asked innocently. Athletic girls are attractive.”

I immediately made a face of disgust at him, and he chuckled like he couldn’t be bothered by my reactions this green eves shifted back toward the basketball court, and the look on his face immediately made me suspicious cause it was the exact same look he always had whenever he was about to suggest something annoying

Sure enough, a second later, he grinned and pointed toward the court Play with fie

I stared at him flatly. Absolutely not

Why not?he asked.

Because I don’t want to,” I responded with a shrug

Theo laughed softly before shaking his head You’re scared

I scoffed immediately Of basketball

No.he replied smugly Of losing to me

the sheer confidence in his voice instantly irritated me. He somehow always sounded like someone who had never lost a single thing in his life, and it made me want to humble him at least once.

You’re ridiculously annoying I informed him.

But am I wrong?he asked.

Yes,I retorted.

He smirked. Then prove it.

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously while folding my arms. I’m wearing a dress.

Theo shamelessly looked me over before smirking. You look beautiful in the dress, by the way.

rolled my eyes in disbelief. “That wasn’t the point.

I know. Just couldn’t miss the chance,he said, and I couldn’t even argue.

nstead, I let out a deep sigh. Theo, I haven’t played in forever, but believe me, I could have gone pro if I were a little more nterested and perhaps not stuck on being 5’7

Good for you,he replied casually. But I’ll still beat you.

That immediately did it. “Oh, you’re actually serious,I muttered while glaring at him.

Very.

The smug look on his face only made my competitive side wake up even more. I already knew agreeing to this was probabl

terrible idea, but at that moment, my pride honestly refused to let me back down.

Theo started walking toward the court while speaking over his shoulder. Let’s make this interesting.”

That sentence alone sounds dangerous.”

If you score five points before I score ten,he continued smoothly, then I owe you a wish.

blinked. A wish?

Anything reasonable,” he replied.

immediately looked suspicious. And if you win?

Theo turned slowly to face me fully, and the grin on his face instantly told me this care thing had been planned from the tart. Then you owe me a wish,” he said calmly. And whatever it is, you have to grant it

mmediately, alarm bells started ringing loudly in my head. Moon, however, sounded thrilled. You better not ask for anything insane if you win.

That depends,he replied lazily. Will you lose?

I stared at him for a long moment before groaning under my breath Honestly, Lalready knew this was a setup for disaster, but the cocky look on his face irritated me too much to walk away now.

Fine,” I finally muttered.

eyed him suspiciously and muttered under my breath before finally starting forward with the ball. At first, I genuinely hought I still had a decent chance against him. Then Theo actually started defending seriously, and I immediately resized 1st how unfair this entire situation was.

Why are you taking this so seriously?I complained while trying to move around him.

Because I want my prize,he answered.
