Deanna's POV:

I bent down and ran my hand over Puddy's warm, fluffy head, barely believing it. He was full of energy, breathing evenly. Seeing him like that made my eyes burn.

Puddy was really awake!

After I had the baby, I'd gone to see him again and again, pouring a huge amount of the Healer's power into him to keep his condition stable.

Erik kept saying Puddy was fine, but for some reason, he just never opened his eyes.

I had almost given up hope.

I never imagined he'd wake up on the day of my ceremony, like a miracle.

I looked up and met Luis's eyes. A soft, knowing smile tugged at his lips. He had clearly known this was coming.

I didn't know whether to laugh or scold him. So this was another one of his surprises?

I stood straight and picked up the small velvet box, still warm from Puddy's body. I closed my fingers around it tightly.

Puddy ran two quick circles around my skirt, tail wagging hard. Then Aaron stepped in and gently carried him aside.

I opened the box. Two rings rested on the black velvet inside.

His ring was wide and solid. Mine was slim and graceful, set with a rare, flawless moonstone in the center, ringed by brilliant fire diamonds. The moonstone glowed with a soft blue light, calm and gentle, while the diamonds flashed cool and sharp. It matched the moonstone bracelet Luis had given me perfectly, like they were meant to be together.

In Nordvale, top-quality moonstone veins were rare, and stones this clear and large were even harder to find. I could tell the rings were worth an insane amount.

I traced the engraving inside my band. It was my initials, paired with a thin crescent moon.

Tears welled up instantly. I looked at the man in front of me, my nose stinging.

Luis lifted an eyebrow. "What's that look for? You don't like it?"

I shook my head, my voice tight. "Luis ... why are you always so good to me?"
