(Author’s POV)
"Why do you need brother Dio’s number?" Elio questioned her point blank as he frowned, hearing Wendy’s words. He thought she had called him to ask about how he was and just wanted to have a normal, friendly talk, but he was never expecting this.
In his eyes, Wendy was a cheerful and carefree person, but now he couldn’t help but think of her as a materialistic one. He and his wolf, Leo, were both thoroughly disappointed.
"Ohhh~ .... I wasn’t asking for Prof. Dion’s number. What I need is your eldest brother, Mr. Alaric’s contact," Wendy muttered awkwardly. She then continued to clarify, "I need to ask him about my sister."
The frown on Elio’s face only deepened. He was dumbstruck as well as puzzled by her absurd question. "Brother Al’s contact?" He asked for confirmation. "Regarding your sister?" He couldn’t understand a single thing.
Leo commented, ’This girl really is~ .... bold~ .... Asking you for Alaric’s number. She surely doesn’t want to live a long life. Setting her sights on the wrong guy.’
Hearing the confusion in his voice, Wendy explained, "Actually, what happened~ .... is that~ .... Today, Mr. Alaric came to visit my university and addressed the post graduate students. I don’t know much about the details, but after that, my sister was assigned to accompany him. It’s already been so long, and she hasn’t returned home yet, so I was~ .... I was getting a bit worried."
"Then why don’t you give a call to your sister?" Elio probed, anticipating Wendy’s response.
"I can’t~ .... She doesn’t have her phone right now," Wendy conveyed to him.
For a brief moment, Elio didn’t say anything. The profound silence was making Wendy more jittery. She mumbled, "Mr. Elio~ .... Can you~ .... Can you please give it to me? I swear I won’t leak it or contact him again." Her voice came out pleading as she bit her nails with apprehension.
A heavy sigh came from the other side as Elio said, "I will give~ .... brother Alaric a call and ask for your sister on your behalf. Is that alright with you?"
Elio had no intention of sharing Alaric’s personal contact with any outsider. He was just taking this opportunity to test out the waters with Wendy. If she hesitated even in the slightest, then her intentions would be crystal clear to him, and he planned to straight away cut her out and block her.
The next second, Wendy chimed in, "Ohh~ of course, of course. Please do that. And~ .... thank you so much for your help, Mr. Elio."
Elio didn’t correct Wendy’s figure of speech as he did at the banquet. He simply uttered, "Then I will get back to you after talking to my brother."
"Okay~ ... bye," Wendy said, and then the call got disconnected. Elio stared at his phone’s display for a little while, trying to decipher Wendy’s motive. It would really be a shame if she had any hidden purpose towards him or his brothers.
Dispersing all these thoughts, he mumbled, "Once I ask brother Al, I will have a much better picture."
As mind linking can only be done within a certain distance, to be precise, within thousand miles radius, and Esteria was almost at the other side of the world, he had no choice but to make a call to Alaric.
He waited for the call to get connected, but even after ringing for a while, Alaric didn’t pick it up. He tried several times but to no avail. That was really strange. Alaric wasn’t someone who would ignore his calls. ’Did something happen?’

"WENDS~ .... Why are you ou~ ...." a familiar voice called out.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhhh~ ...." Wendy jolted from the sudden intrusion. Her back was facing the door, so she didn’t see Yelena. She exhaled a sigh of relief and said, "Sis Yel~ .... You scared the shit out of me." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"What are you doing outside?" Yelena inquired.
"Ohh~ I was just~ ... talking to Elio~ ..." saying his name without any honorifics, Wendy’s face turned beet red.
"The Everests guy you met at the seminar?" Yelena asked for confirmation.
Then her eyes landed on a fresh notification on her phone. She was about to ignore it, but the headline caught her attention: ’Larson Group’s private plane crashed. Is business tycoon Jacob Larson dead?’
Yelena gasped at the horrific news. Seeing her like that, Wendy asked, "What’s up, sis? Why do you look so pale?" Yelena showed her the video footage from a media channel. Wendy gave the same reaction as her, "Ohhh my goshhhh~ ... this is~ ... this is awful."
But what Wendy didn’t notice, and Yelena did, was the blurry image of Fabian in that wreckage. His face was covered in a bit of soot. He looked haggard and lifeless. Now she knew why his phone line was busy. Her heart sank seeing him like that. She even felt guilty.
To be honest, Yelena was kind of aware of Jacob and Fabian’s acquaintance. At least, she was one hundred and ten per cent sure that they were relatives. Actually, she had once heard her grandfather, Garry and Fabian talking on the phone.
Now, Myra was missing~ .... And Fabian~ .... he wasn’t in any state to find her. He, too, needed someone by his side. Yelena couldn’t help but feel anxious for the two. She then mumbled, "I am going out."
"Now? Why?" Wendy questioned.
"Chairman Larson is a friend of my grandfather. I need to know what is happening," she said in a stern voice.
Wendy nodded and said, "I will come with you."
"No, Wends, you stay here. Myra has not yet returned. If all of us are out, Uncle and Aunty will get worried and throw a ton of questions at us. You manage here. I know where Alaric Everests is staying. I will go to the location first, pick Myra up from there and then go to the crash site," Yelena told her.
Although Wendy was reluctant, she nodded, "Okay. When Elio calls me, I will tell you."
"Got it," saying this, Yelena rushed inside to grab her car keys and told William hurriedly, "Uncle, something urgent has come up. I need to go. Don’t wait for me." After saying her piece, she dashed out of the house, even forgetting to change her slippers.
