(Author’s POV)
’Al, our mate still had not come back,’ Alex said, his tone filled with complex emotions. He was angry, he was hurt, he was desperate, but most of all, he was sad.
Alaric didn’t give any reply. He just looked up at the transitioning sky. The vibrant sunset glossing the horizon in fiery orange, blues, golds and reds, creating a worthy, magnificent spectacle, but that didn’t move him even in the slightest. It only made his mood more grim, morose.
He has been waiting for Myra for almost seven hours. He saw her sister, whom he recognized from the Damona airport, when she came to pick Myra up, coming back to her house. Even though her parents returned, there were still no signs of her.
With every passing second, his frustration grew more and more. He hadn’t contacted Dion even though he knew Myra was with him. But now he couldn’t wait any longer; he was on the edge. Alaric was just about to make a call, as Dion’s mind link was still blocked, his phone started ringing.
Seeing his phone’s display, he creased his brows and pursed his lips in a thin line. Then, he cleared his throat and punched in the answer button, "Hello, father."
"Alaric, what’s the situation over there?" Nathan asked; his usually aloof voice now had a tinge of something inexpressible.
For a nanosecond, Alaric couldn’t decipher the meaning behind his words. Then, alarm bells started ringing inside his head as Alex commented, ’Has Dion already informed everyone about Myra and her family being here in Esteria?’
"Father~ .... I was going to~ ...." Alaric started, but was interrupted by Nathan, "Has there been any news on the Vampire King yet?
Alaric paused, ’Ohh~ .... he was talking about Jacob Larson’s matter.’ He felt relieved, and then his tone shifted to his usual manner as he told his father, "Brave and Elio must have told you. He will be coming back the day after tomorrow. This time~ .... I will," but once again, Nathan cut him off, "Alaric Everests, what are you on about. The Larson Airlines private plane, carrying Jacob Larson, has met with an accident. This news is all over the world. Don’t tell me, even after being in Esteria, you don’t know about it?"
Alaric was left speechless. His eyes went wide with shock. He couldn’t help but yelp, "WHAT! What are you saying, father?"
"Alaric, where are you right now?" Nathan questioned him. His voice shifted to that dangerous, ominous territory. "You know what~ .... we will discuss about our matter at a later time. Right now, you and Dion go to the crash site and see what is going on over there," Nathan commanded with a bone chilling voice.
After Nathan disconnected the call, Alaric immediately made a call to Dion, but unsurprisingly, his phone was switched off. He tried to contact two~ .. three~ ... four~ .... more times, but it was all futile. In the end, he had no choice but to leave a voice message, "Dion Everests, wherever you are, whatever you are doing right now, whosoever you are with. Drop that down and contact me immediately. Something has happened to Jacob Larson."
Sending two or three more such voicemails, Alaric started the car and zoomed off.

Meanwhile, inside Myra’s house, the atmosphere was tense. Wendy’s face was etched with a grave expression. When she first saw the online post about her sister and Alaric Everests, she was stupefied. Then a sudden surge of joy coursed through her. She was just about to count her lucky stars, but then she scrolled down and saw the comment section, which was full of foul language aimed only at Myra.
Reading all that, Wendy couldn’t contain her rage and started replying to every hate comment personally. She was relentless, ruthless and matched the language cut to cut, in the battle of cussing and swearing.
Commenter One: ’Such a plain faced chick, walking alongside one of the most eligible bachelor. Tskkk~ .... what a mismatch. I don’t like it. Ewwww~ .... #Alaric deserves better.’
Wendy’s reply: ’You should look at your pig like face in the mirror first before unloading your poop here. Her plain face is much more better than your made up one.’
Commenter Two: ’This girl is always luring all the rich, hot, sexy and influential guys. Such a gold digger. Says a lot about her humble origin.’
Wendy’s reply: ’Even after having money, you are still brainless. What to do? I think you should probably go to the hospital ASAP~ .... to treat your inferiority complex. Ohhh~ ... or maybe it is a genetic disease. Because of your origin.’
Commenter Three: ’Her Oscar level acting is commendable. She tries so hard to act like a studious and devoted person. But her intentions~ .... They couldn’t be hidden for long.’
Wendy’s reply: ’Ohhhooo~ .... Are you jealous? You don’t have such acting skills. I think you should focus on your studies more rather than defaming people without any knowledge. KNOCK YOUR VULGAR MINDSET OFF, Sir.’
