(Author’s POV)
"When someone with the name William Miracle comes, you can just allow him and the people with him to get to the room directly, without question," Brave said to the staff member. His voice stern.
"I will make sure of that, Mr. Everests. Anything else you want to add?" the person asked.
"For now, nothing," he replied. The staff got busy with their own stuff.
Brave wanted to get some fresh air as well, so he headed towards the open private garden on the widely spread balcony on the same floor. The weather today was pleasant, not too sunny, or too gloomy. It was modestly cloudy with a soft, gentle, cool breeze blowing from the east to the west.
But inside his head as well as his heart, everything was in turmoil. His mind was hammered with thoughts. His world has flipped upside down. He slumped down on the cozy, cushioned bench and gazed at the flock of doves flying with the wind freely, without a care.
"What has even happened?" He mumbled, his voice almost inaudible.
He was on his way to the airport to pick up the youngest, Elio, when, in the middle of nowhere, he was stopped by Secretary Queens, who was following some suspicious guys. ’They might have an ulterior motive towards Jacob Larson,’ at least, that’s what Elisa Queens described those people as.
At that time, her appearance was messy, and she seemed to be in a jeopardized situation, so he didn’t question much and just followed along. After all, he and his siblings had given their word to protect the Vampire King. So, he had no reason to refuse her.
Once they hit the road again, the first thing he did was to mind link Elio to tell him that he won’t be able to come to get him and that he should go straight to the Crown Opulence Hotel because he had some extremely urgent business to attend to. Just like always, Elio was very understanding and agreed instantly.
After that, Elisa kept giving him intel about those sceptical looking guys. She told him she planted a tracking chip on their vehicle, so she knew exactly where they were. He wasn’t much interested in it, up until they neared their destination. The moment they reached there and saw an empty vehicle, the familiar sweet, citrus like, flowery, fruity scent filled Brave’s nostrils.
He didn’t recall who it belonged to or who its owner was, but it was his cue to follow along, and he did. HE GLADLY DID. He left Elisa standing and just dashed in that particular direction to find it was Myra Miracle. The one he and his entire family have been searching for~ ... for an entire year.
A heavy sigh escaped his mouth as he rested his head on the headrest and pinched his nose bridge. ’MATE~ ....’ As soon as he shut his eyes, that word. That pure, surreal, sacred letter echoed inside his head. ’Why did Raw utter that very word? Is she~ .... is Myra Miracle my second chance mate? Then what about~ .... what about my Hannah? *sigh* .... Isn’t she, my mate? I don’t know~ ... I really don’t know what the fuck is going on? Raw~ .... Raw~ .... Why are you keeping mum? Say something. Tell me, what you said was real or was it just in the spur of the moment?’
After that episode in the woods, Raw hadn’t said anything, as if he had gone into a state of utter shock. After a long, unbearable silence, he finally spoke, his voice gravelly and filled with confusion, ’I don’t know how she, a human being, could be our mate. But I said what I felt, Rave.’
Brave was about to reply when Alaric’s voice reverberated in his head, "Rave~ .... BRAVE? Where are you? Rave?"
His brows furrowed at the interruption. Brave had blocked his mind link, and his phone’s battery had died as well. But somehow, Alaric had managed to breach it. With a tired voice, he asked, "Al, what is it?"
"Where have you been since yesterday? Why haven’t you come back to the mansion? Why is your phone off, Brother Rave??" Nora’s voice came in.
Brave was even more confused. How have his siblings tussled their way in? But they didn’t give much time to think as Elio’s voice came next, "Bro, what’s going on?"
"Rave, why have you blocked the mind link?" Lastly, Dion’s voice echoed.
"Hang on, hang on~ .... Why are you all barging in like that, huhhh~ .... Ask one by one? Did some happen?" Brave replied.
"Of course, something did happen, Brother Rave. You have been missing since last night. We all have been worried sick for you," Nora spoke. Her voice filled with distress. "Tell us~ ... where have you been?"
Brave pursed his lips and exhaled a breath again. For a few seconds, he couldn’t think what to tell them. That he had found Myra Miracle? That she was lying in a hospital bed and had barely made it. That she was his mate? Where does he even begin? Should he even tell them or just change the topic?
"Brave Everests~ .... why are you quiet? Say something. Tell us, where are you?" Alaric spoke. His tone was unnatural and weird.
