Chapter 246 I’m Coming to Get You

Once Gillian got her healing psionic power back, she could fix herself.

“Of course. Our Lily is the sweetest little thing. How could I ever not like you?” Gillian closed her fingers around the blackstone and pulled hard, dragging the drained power back into her body.

The sight left Adrian and the others stunned.

Adrian took one look and spotted the damage to her bio-armor. He pulled a spare set of buttons from his pocket and tossed them to Lily. They arced through the air and landed beside her.

He ordered every beastman to step back and called out, “Lily, get that armor on your mom and bring her over.”

Lily’s roots snatched the buttons up. She’d watched Gillian put these on her before, so she knew the drill.

She pressed them against the patches of skin that were still intact.

Gillian flinched as the suit sealed around her, the fabric pulling against raw wounds. By the time the bio- armor clicked into place, she was drenched.

But the blood skin wasn’t feeding on her anymore. The blackstone fed her psionic power in slow, steady threads, and her wounds started closing.

She reached inward, careful, and checked on Elias and Asher.

They were fine. Her flesh really was sweeter than a Binary Parasitic Beast, just like the fake Merrick had said. It had kept the blood skin so drunk on her that it never touched them.

Her wrist terminal flickered back online as Adrian’s team closed in. Outside the protective dome, it had been dead, and even her storage space had locked up.

Her eyes swept the area and didn’t find Camilla or Tristan, and her chest tightened. “Where are Camilla and Tristan?”

Lily shook her head. “Mom, I haven’t seen Camilla. Ruby just dug Tristan out. He’s over there, still stripped and red all over like a boiled lobster.”

Gillian followed her gaze and saw soldiers already getting Tristan dressed while Ruby ran toward her.

A faint sweetness still hung in the air. Adrian was sharp-using heat powder on those things had been a good move.

She’d already formed a core bond, so the powder hit her like a buzz but did no real damage.

Tristan, though, was a different problem. She had no clue if anyone he wanted had made it out here.

Her mind cleared, and the memories locked back into place. “Adrian, someone shoved Camilla and Tristan right next to me. Tristan was there, so Camilla has to be close. Find her. She’s somewhere in this mess.”

“Search every corpse,” Adrian ordered. “One by one.”

Ruby heard Camilla was still missing and didn’t go to Gillian. She turned and drove her thick roots into the piles of bodies, hunting for any trace of her. Her nose for plant life was something no beastman could touch.

“Don’t worry, Mom,” Lily said. “As long as Camilla’s primal core is intact, she can regrow.”

She shifted taller, her roots coiling into a sturdy cradle around Gillian, and stood.

Gillian felt a deep stillness settle in. She didn’t fight the hold.

“Mrs. Cole, are you alright?” Adrian only stepped closer once she was fully armored. “Do you need healing alloy?”

“I’m fine now,” she said. “Adrian, did Merrick send you? Did you catch the one pretending to be me?”

“Yes, Mrs. Cole. Commander saw through it from the jump.”

Adrian pulled up his wrist terminal and messaged Merrick, “Sir, all scale parasites have been dealt with. The team requests permission to return.”

The reply came fast. “Approved. We’ve wrapped things up on this end too.”

Adrian exhaled and turned to Gillian. “Commander has the impostor under control. Mrs. Cole, we should head back.”

Gillian insisted. “We’re not leaving without Camilla.”

“Understood.” He knew how much those flower beasts meant to her. He ordered everyone to keep digging and not to stop until they had something-alive or dead.

Gillian’s wrist terminal buzzed with a wave of backed-up messages. The top one was from Merrick.

She opened it and read, “Gillian, I’m coming to get you.”
