Aurora shook her head. “It’s not the right time. I can’t protect them yet.”

“What about my brother and Heath? They’d help you,” Zane insisted.

Aurora chuckled. ‘Using Skyline’s name is already a big help.”

Scratching his head, Zane asked, “So, you arranged for Cheryl to accompany Daxton to the awards?”

Aurora nodded. “Daxton needed a date, and Cheryl’s on the rise. More exposure is good.”

Zane probed, “What about the upcoming Film and Drama Festival? Who’s Cheryl going with?”

Aurora pondered. “Haven’t decided. Maybe Daxton again?”

Zane was frustrated. “Why? Daxton’s not even an actor!”

Aurora looked puzzled. “True, but he’ll probably be a guest performer.”

“And what about me? Who’s going with me?” Zane asked.

Aurora laughed. “You should ask Alaric. Skyline has plenty of actresses who’d love to walk the red carpet with you.”

Zane pouted. “But I don’t want to walk with them!”

Aurora looked at him. “You want to go with Cheryl?”

Zane quickly retorted, “I don’t want to go with her! But she’s the female lead in the only show I did this year. It’d be embarrassing if she

went with someone else!”

Aurora nodded. “Yeah, that would be embarrassing. Maybe you should skip it.”

Zane was speechless.

Aurora chuckled. “Cheryl and Daxton are my artists. They’ll naturally appear together for more exposure. Plus, they just declared themselves as ‘mentor and mentee,‘ which makes for a good story. I won’t break them up for someone else.”

Zane was desperate. “How am I ‘someone else‘? Didn’t I work hard on a show for you?”

Aurora shook her head. “I paid you for the show, but you’re not my artist.”

Zane declared, “Then I’ll sign with you! Then I’ll be your artist, right?”

Aurora was taken aback. “You’d sign with me?”

Zane grinned as if he’d found a solution. “Yes! I’ll sign with your studio, become your artist, and you can pair me with Cheryl for the red carpet!”

Before Aurora could stop him, Zane was already out the door, heading straight back to Skyline Media. He burst into Alaric’s office. “Bro, I want out of my contract. I don’t want to work for you anymore!

Alaric swiftly grabbed Zane’s contract and fed it into the shredder. “Good, you better not cause me any more trouble.”

Seeing his contract shredded, Zane grinned. “So, can I sign a new contract now?”

Alaric looked puzzled. “What new contract?”

“The one with Aurora! I’m signing with her!” Zane declared.

“You’re breaking a contract with your own brother to sign with Aurora?” Alaric was incredulous.

Zane nodded. “Yep, gotta go, I’m off to sign.”

Alaric was speechless. What kind of spell had Aurora cast on Zane? First, she got him to seriously commit to an entire TV show, and now he was running off to sign a contract with her?

Alaric called Heath to vent. “Heath, your little girl is poaching my talent!”

“Who?” Heath asked.

“My own brother Zane! She’s not even sparing family!” Alaric wailed.

“Well, you couldn’t control him anyway,” Heath pointed out.

Alaric was silent. True, Zane never listened to him, but why did he listen to Aurora?

Zane returned to Aurora’s studio, insisting she sign him. Aurora rolled her eyes. “Not signing.”

“Why not? People would kill to sign me, and you’re refusing when I’m offering myself?” Zane was frantic.

Aurora was speechless. His phrasing sounded… odd.

‘I promise I won’t cause trouble, I’ll be the model employee! Whatever you want me to act in, I’ll do it!” Zane assured her.

Out of options, Aurora pulled out a contract and tossed it to him. Without even reading it, Zane signed and said, “So, I’m your artist now, right?”

Aurora nodded. “Yes, but keep your mouth shut. Don’t go around saying Daxton and Cheryl are mine.”

Zane mimed zipping his lips. “So, to celebrate the new member, shouldn’t there be a celebration?”

Aurora sighed. “Fine, Daxton won an award. We’ll celebrate tonight.”

Zane camped out in front of the TV in Aurora’s office, watching the awards ceremony. When Daxton finally won the Best New Artist award, he jumped up and pulled Aurora out the door. “Let’s go, let’s go! Time to celebrate!”
