Chapter 122
The last thing Heath wanted was to investigate Aurora, to find all signs pointing to her. He closed his laptop with a snap. “Just go, he
said tersely.
Kieran left, and the night gave way to morning.

Heath woke with a pounding headache, the aftermath of last night’s drinking and the stress of the Whitmore family’s affairs. After a shower, he wandered into the dining room, only to stop short.
There was Aurora, casually stirring a cup. At the sound of his footsteps, she turned, “You’re up? I made you some honey water. It should help with the headache.”
Heath took the cup she offered, the sweet scent of honey wafting up to him. “How did you get in here?” he asked, genuinely curious.
Aurora smiled, “You were pretty out of it last night. I thought you might need some help this morning, so I brought breakfast.”
Heath chuckled at the spread of food on the table. “Since when did you become so domestic? And honey water?”
She stuck out her tongue playfully, “Learned it from Little Fish, just trying it out now.”
They sat down to eat, and Heath could feel Aurora’s eyes on him. “What is it?” he asked.
Aurora hesitated before asking, “Did you… drink a lot last night?”
He nodded, “Yeah, I did. You took care of me, right? It’s all a blur.”
Relief washed over her face, “Yes, I brought you back.”
They continued their meal in silence. Heath knew she was seeking reassurance about whether he knew she had gone through his computer. He decided to give her the peace of mind she was looking for.
Heath dropped a bombshell over breakfast, “I’m heading to the States next week.”
Aurora nearly choked on her sip of coffee. “What?”
“Yeah, I’ll be gone for three or four days. Do you have plans?” Heath’s casual tone belied the weight of his words.
Aurora’s mind raced. “Next week? I… I haven’t checked my schedule yet,” she stammered, the spoon clattering from her hand into the bowl.
Heath suggested, “Look into it. If you’re free, you could come with me.”
“Go to the States… together?” The idea seemed to both alarm and excite her.
Heath nodded, “You said you’ve never really been anywhere else, right? I won’t be swamped with work, so we could explore a bit.”

Chapter 122
Her curiosity piqued, Aurora asked, ‘What’s taking you to the States?
“Just a dinner with the Whitmore family, he replied, focusing on his breakfast.
The spoon in Aurora’s hand dropped again, the sound echoing in the sudden silence. His words hit her like a cold wave. He hadn’t been drunk last night, so why bring up the Whitmore family now?
Heath met her gaze, a silent question in his eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, it’s nothing,” Aurora muttered, avoiding his probing stare.
“We’ll talk later then. I’ll have Kieran book the tickets,” Heath said, ending the conversation.
Aurora nodded, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts as she quickly tidied up and left.
Heath sat alone, pondering the look in Aurora’s eyes. Their relationship had started beautifully, but now they were caught in a dance of secrets and tests. A chasm seemed to grow between them, filled with unspoken truths and the danger of falling in too deep.
Back at her place, Aurora dug out an old phone and messaged Jasper, desperate for any information on the Whitmore family. No reply came. Jay, noticing her frantic return, knocked on her door with concern.
“Aurora, are you alright?” he asked.
She was lost in thought. “I’m going to the States,” she said.

“For what?” Jay’s brow furrowed.
“To a Whitmore family banquet,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jay’s heart skipped a beat. He grabbed her shoulders, “Aurora, don’t be foolish! With your face, the spitting image of Olivia’s, showing up at the Whitmore’s is asking for trouble. Isabella could have you killed a hundred different ways!”
Aurora clutched her head, torn. She longed to confront Isabella Whitmore, to show her she hadn’t been defeated by death. But exposing herself could mean the end of everything.
