Me And My Billionaire Husband
Chapter 143

Aurora returned to the Villa just in time to see Maxwell’s car parked at the entrance. Sophia stepped out of the car, and the three of them
met at the villa’s doorstep.
Aurora, dressed in a simple white T–shirt and shorts, looked no different from a college girl. Sophia, on the other hand, wore a high–end designer dress and high heels, her face hidden behind sunglasses, exuding a celebrity–like aura.
Before Aurora could speak, Sophia called out to her, I heard you haven’t been home for several days. Where have you been gallivanting?
Maxwell frowned, unaware that Aurora had been away for so many days.
Aurora turned to her and replied, “Since when do I need to report my whereabouts to you?”
Sophia removed her sunglasses, revealing her exquisite eye makeup, and said disdainfully, “I’m just concerned about you. Don’t go getting yourself pregnant out of wedlock.”
Aurora was taken aback. Pregnant? Did Sophia know about the incident with Silas?
“Sophia, did you orchestrate the incident with Silas?” Aurora asked coldly.
Sophia’s face panicked, and she quickly retorted, “What incident with Silas? Don’t falsely accuse me!”
She hadn’t forgotten how Aurora’s first retaliation had left her humiliated for a month in the city, or how the second retaliation forced her to hide from school for a year, still a topic of gossip on forums.
Now, she planned to stay in the background and let others deal with Aurora.
However, the sudden hospitalization of Silas, guarded by tight security, had caught her off guard.
Aurora laughed, “Sophia, do you know what’s funny about you? You lack courage, yet you engage in such sneaky deeds!”
Sophia, flustered, quickly changed the subject, “Instead of worrying about me, why don’t you focus on Zane and Cheryl? Isn’t Zane supposed to protect Cheryl? But I hear Zane is in trouble now.”
“How do you know Zane is in trouble? The surveillance footage only showed Zane entering and leaving a room. Who said he harassed a female artist? Aurora chuckled, “Sophia, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Zane is quite capable of protecting Cheryl, and you’re destined to be overshadowed by Cheryl,”
Sophia sneered, ‘We’ll see about that!”
She strode into the villa, determined to eliminate Cheryl’s close allies and oust her from the entertainment industry.
After Sophia entered, Aurora headed towards the elder Pendleton’s villa. Suddenly, Maxwell called out, “Aurora.”
Aurora turned around, “What is it?”
“Stop fighting with Sophia. You can’t win against her,” Maxwell advised.

Chapter 143
:
He cared for both women and didn’t want to see them at each other’s throats.
“How do you know I can’t win before it’s over? Aurora said.
Aurora, what’s the point even if you win? We’re all family. Do we really need to fight to the death?” Maxwell frowned.
“Big brother, do you know how my mother died?” Aurora suddenly asked.
Maxwell was taken aback, “I don’t know.”

Aurora sneered, “My mother hadn’t even conceived me when Madeline had already given birth to you. You were not young when she died. Don’t you know what happened back then?”
Maxwell understood her implication and his expression darkened, “Aurora, are you suggesting I’m lying?”
Aurora tilted her head and smiled, countering, “Aren’t you? Sophia knows the truth about what happened back then. Are you saying you don’t?”
Maxwell’s brows furrowed deeper, unable to comprehend Aurora’s words. What truth was she talking about?
“Aurora, what are you suspecting? What does Sophia have to do with your mother’s death?” Maxwell asked.
Aurora looked at Maxwell’s expression, which seemed genuinely unaware, and replied, “Sophia claimed she knows the truth about my mother’s death. If you want to know, brother, you might ask her. After all, I too am eager to learn whether my mother’s death had anything to do with Madeline and your siblings.”
She paused, then added as though it just occurred to her, “You asked what’s the point of winning? If my mother’s death is related to them in any way, I’ll make sure they pay back a hundredfold.”
Her tone was calm, yet it carried an intimidating chill, even when she smiled.
But Maxwell had seen her different demeanor around Heath- smiling softly, appearing sweet and adorable.
‘Aurora, Maxwell suddenly asked, “Have you been with Heath these past few days?”
Aurora, taken aback, replied, “You seem overly concerned, brother.”
Maxwell, feeling agitated, said, “Aurora, Heath isn’t right for you.”
Aurora rolled her eyes. Was everyone trying to keep her away from Heath?
She ignored Maxwell and walked back to the villa.
Maxwell entered the living room, finding Sophia watching TV. Seeing him, she remarked disdainfully, “What did you talk about with that little wretch?”
Maxwell frowned. Sophia wasn’t always like this. She used to be spoiled yet sweet, but now, her face bore no trace of naivety. She was harsh to the servants, making everyone uncomfortable.
Maxwell sat on the sofa, silent.

Chapter 143
Sophia, receiving no response, turned to Maxwell and scoffed, Big brother, I must say, I’m your real sister. Aurora is just a mongrel. Arent you afraid of tarnishing your status by associating with her?
“Enough Maxwell looked at her. “Sophia, what do you know about Aurora’s mother’s death?”
Sophia was startled and turned to the TV, waving her hand, “What could I know? Didn’t her mother commit suicide due to depression?”
Maxwell pressed, ‘Really? You know nothing?”
“Maxwell!” she yelled, “I’m your real sister! What has that Aurora drug you to question me like this!”
Before Maxwell could respond, Madeline entered the living room, “What’s all this noise? Sophia, how can you be angry with your brother?”
Sophia, seeing Madeline, played the victim, “Mom! Look at brother. Aurora has brainwashed him against me!”
Madeline comforted Sophia and turned to Maxwell, “Maxwell, remember, Sophia is your real sister. How can you side with an outsider?”
“Mom, I…” Maxwell tried to argue, but Madeline interrupted, “Maxwell, Aurora is an ungrateful wretch. Even if you speak for her, she won’t appreciate it.”
As Madeline and Sophia berated Maxwell and belittled Aurora, he grew increasingly agitated and left the house.
“Maxwell! Where are you going? You promised to have dinner at home today!” Madeline called after him.
“I’ve lost my appetite! I’m not eating!” Maxwell replied irritably and left the villa.
