Chapter 165
Heath replied with resignation, ‘Elowen, you don’t have to do this, I don’t need you to buy clothes for me…”
“Oh, come on, Heath, don’t overthink it, I just saw it and bought it. Try it on, see if it fits, otherwise I’ll return it!” Elowen ran to the living room, taking out and holding up the coat, “See, isn’t it nice?”
Suddenly, the study door opened with a click, and Alaric walked out with a laptop, saying, “Heath, Eamon said that in the US… Elowen? What are you doing here?”
Elowen, surprised, looked at Alaric. She thought Heath was alone at home, not expecting Alaric to be there too.
Alaric, seeing the coat in her hands and her unguarded hopeful gaze, understood she was there to deliver clothes to Heath.
From childhood, he had looked at Elowen with hope, while she always looked at Heath the same way.

Alaric knew Heath was an extraordinary man, almost obsessively so. He admired him, respected him, followed his leadership, and willingly braved the world with him.
So, it seemed natural that Elowen would fall for Heath, especially since he knew Heath was far superior to him.
Elowen awkwardly folded the coat and said, “Alaric, you’re here too… I didn’t bring your New Year’s gift, I’ll give it to you next time.”
Alaric smiled bitterly, knowing well there was no gift for him. In Elowen’s eyes, there was only ever Heath.
Yet, every time he was by Elowen’s side, he felt her reliance and trust in him, which made him believe he still had a chance.
The awkward silence in the living room was suffocating. Alaric grabbed the car keys from the table and said, “Heath, I’ll go pick up Aurora, let’s have dinner together tonight.”
Heath nodded, and Alaric almost ran out of the door. At this moment, anything was better than staying in that living room.
Elowen smiled awkwardly and said, “Heath, I’m heading back now. Try on the coat when you have time.”
Before Heath could reply, Elowen left. Heath watched the black coat on the sofa and sighed helplessly. He had grown up with Elowen and had made it clear that there was no future for them, but he couldn’t be too harsh, considering she wasn’t an enemy.
After shopping, Aurora and Vespera reached the parking lot where Alaric waved at them. Aurora asked, “Where’s Heath?”
Alaric, looking displeased, replied, “Heath has something to take care of. He’ll meet us at the restaurant. Let’s go have dinner,”
Aurora nodded. Alaric then smiled at Vespera, “Hey, would you like to join us for dinner?”
Vespera returned his smile, “Sure.”
The three headed to the restaurant. Inside the private room, Heath was already waiting. He pulled Aurora to sit beside him and asked, “What did you buy?”
Aurora listed all her purchases, but with so many people around, she didn’t mention the coat she bought for Heath.

Chapter 165
During the meal, Aurora and Vespera chatted while Heath served Aurora and occasionally talked to Alaric, who seemed disinterested. Alaric ended up drinking a bottle of red wine by himself.

Post–dinner, a drunken Alaric clung to Heath, crying, ‘Why don’t I have a New Year’s gift? I’m handsome and excellent! I want a gift too!”
Heath was speechless.
Kieran drove Alaric and Vespera home. Heath and Aurora returned home. Upon entering the living room, Aurora saw the black coat on the sofa and immediately asked, “Did Elowen come?”
Heath was surprised, “How did you know?”
Aurora, pointing at the coat, asked, “She brought this coat for you?”
Heath pinched the bridge of his nose, “She said it was a New Year’s gift.”
Annoyed, Aurora threw the coat she was holding on the floor, “So you accepted it? You accepted the coat she bought for you?”
Heath looked at Aurora’s puffed–up face and gently rubbed it, speaking tenderly, “I didn’t accept it. She left it here and went out. I swear, I didn’t even touch the coat.”
Aurora’s anger subsided a bit. She looked into his eyes, “Really?”
Heath met her gaze, “Absolutely.”
Aurora picked up Elowen’s coat, “What about this one?”
Heath shrugged, “My lady, feel free to deal with it as you wish.”
Aurora threw the coat aside, “I won’t deal with it, you handle it.”
Heath called Kieran, “Come and take the black coat in the living room away. I don’t want to see it again.”
Aurora, feeling better, took out the dark red coat she bought and asked, “What about this one?”
Heath looked at the dark red coat, frowning slightly. He rarely wore red, mostly when he was too young to choose his own clothes.
Aurora pushed the coat at him, “Try it on! The salesgirl said it looks great! And dark red isn’t too flashy, it’s festive for New Year…”
Heath, resigned, decided to humor her and put on the coat.
Heath’s sharp features, usually hidden under black suits, made him appear aloof and distant. But the dark red coat made his complexion appear fairer, and with his refined features, he looked like a captivating vampire count, adding a hint of allure to his usual coldness.
Aurora was pleased. She pulled Heath to a mirror, fixing his collar, “Doesn’t it look good? I have great taste, right?”
Heath wrapped an arm around her waist and gave her a peck on the lips, “Yes, it looks good. Thanks for the effort.”
Flushing, Aurora pushed him away, “I’m leaving! Going home!”
