On the eve of the annual leave, all the major companies are busy with their year–end parties.

Fairbank’s annual party was always grand. In addition to high–end food and drinks, and employee benefits and bonuses, numerous female employees eagerly anticipate seeing the god–like Heath Fairbank.
To them, Heath Fairbank was the most perfect man in the city.
Gaining Heath’s favor was more valuable than clinching a million–dollar deal.
Interestingly, there was an event at the party where one person gets the chance to dance with Heath to open the ceremony.
That night, every young female employee used all their wiles, hoping to catch Heath’s eye.
While Heath headed to Fairbank’s for the opening speech of the party, Aurora was holed up at the villa, spending time with Cheryl and Vespera, as Cheryl had less work at the end of the year.
Over the year, Cheryl and Vespera had become Aurora’s close friends. As Zane put it, “three women make a drama.”
Cheryl poked Aurora, “Your man is going to dance with another woman, aren’t you bothered?”
Aurora, fixated on the TV, replied, “I don’t mind.”
Cheryl shaked her head, “Well, can’t help it then. I heard many female employees joined Fairbank’s just for Heath.”
Aurora: “…”
Vespera added, “Yeah, who knows, at the party someone might spike his drink, and when women go crazy, they can do anything.”
Aurora: “…”
Cheryl stíred the pot further, “Does Heath dance with a female employee every year? Wonder if he adds them on facebook or something.
Aurora: ‘…‘
Vespera said, “Not necessarily. I heard Heath usually dances with his secretary or those who perform well at work, kind of like an indirect reward.‘
Aurora looked at them helplessly, “What are you trying to say…”
Cheryl smirked, “Elowen might be going to the party this year. Wouldn’t you let Heath dance with another woman? If it’s Elowen…”
Aurora, placing her cup on the table with a “snap“, asked, “Elowen is going too?”
Cheryl nodded, “Yeah, Zane mentioned it.”
Aurora, looking distressed, said, “I’m not an employee of Fairbank’s, how can I go? And even if I do, what’s the point?”

Cheryl whipped out two invitations, “We have invites! Zane gave them to us, don’t waste them.”
Vespera also persuaded her, “Come on, let’s see who Heath dances with this year. I want to see too!”
Aurora reluctantly agreed, “Appearing at Fairbank’s now doesn’t seem appropriate.”
Vespera then handed her a dress and a mask, “It’s a party, many wear masks.”
Aurora nodded in agreement, and Cheryl jumps excitedly, “Yes! Girl squad invading Fairbank’s!”

The three got ready, with Aurora and Vespera wearing exquisite masks. Cheryl, being a special guest performer, entered the party directly.
As Vespera mentioned, Fairbank’s party is lively, and a few young interns also attended wearing masks. Aurora and her friends blended in without much awkwardness.
At 8 p.m., the annual party officially began.
The host opened the event and invited the chairman of Fairbank’s to deliver a speech. Despite his age, Fairbank’s senior presence was still commanding. However, most of the higher–ups knew that Heath Fairbank was now the real decision–maker at Fairbank’s, and the old Mr. Fairbank’s power had been largely sidelined.
After the old Mr. Fairbank’s speech, citing fatigue, he left early, knowing that Heath wouldn’t welcome him.
Then, it was time for Heath to speak. The young president of Fairbank’s received thunderous applause and screams as soon as he took the stage.
For the male employees, Heath was a role model, having expanded Fairbank’s influence significantly through his efforts alone.
For the female employees, Heath was the man of their dreams – handsome, wealthy, and charming.
Aurora watched with a pout, feeling uneasy about the many eyes covetously fixed on Heath Fairbank.
After Heath’s speech, Cheryl performed. She sang a song just to get through the event, as she was there mainly to have fun.
Then, the host announced, “Fairbank’s New Year Ball officially begins. Let’s invite our Mr. Heath Fairbank to choose his dance partner to open the dance!”
Elowen, standing in the crowd, looked excitedly at Heath. She had managed to get an invitation, spent half the day getting ready, and, with her cultivated ladylike demeanor, was confident she outshone everyone else at the event.
To ensure Heath didn’t recognize her, she wore a mask. Even so, several men had approached her, reinforcing her belief in her unmatched beauty.
She was certain Heath would choose her for the dance, making all her efforts worthwhile.
Heath, adjusting his suit, descended from the stage gracefully. As he approached Elowen, she prepared to greet him, but he walked past her, stopping in front of a masked woman
–
Aurora Pendleton.
Heath stood before Aurora, extending his hand and asked, “May I?”

Aurora, who was eating desserts, was taken aback. Wearing a mask, she wondered how Heath recognized her. Nonetheless, surrounded by envious and jealous gazes, she placed her hand in his and joined him in the dance floor, feeling awkward.
Heath twirled her around the dance floor, whispering, “You’re here now, isn’t it a bit late to feel embarrassed?”
Aurora replied, …Cheryl brought me here.”
Heath nodded, wiping cream off her lips, “So, you came to enjoy the food and drinks?”
Aurora blushed, realizing the irony of a Pendleton heiress sneaking into Fairbank’s party for desserts. If her grandfather heard about it, he’d be furious.
“How did you recognize me?” Aurora curiously asked Heath.
Heath glanced at her, “Is it that hard?”
Aurora protested, “I wore a new dress and a mask, give me some credit.”
Heath chuckled softly, “There are only a few hundred people here. Even if there were thousands, I’d recognize you immediately.”
Aurora blushed, staying silent as Heath’s soothing voice resonated above her, “Rory, I can always find you.”
No matter where she was, as long as he had set his mind on her, he would always find her.
