When Aurora returned to the Pendletons‘ luxurious villa, she witnessed Madeline leaving in a rush, luggage in tow.

Upon entering the living room, Aurora approached a servant and inquired, “Who’s at home right now?”

The servant respectfully reported, “Your father left early for the hospital and then headed to the office. Maxwell and Evelyn did not stay here last night, and the lady of the house departed early this morning without specifying her destination.”

Aurora was momentarily taken aback. Madeline’s departure on the first day of the New Year, especially with luggage, raised a question: Where was she headed?

Returning to her room, Aurora made a call to Jay, instructing him to follow Madeline and see where she was going.

Soon after, Jay reported back, “That woman has gone to the airport and purchased a ticket to Philadelphia. She’s about to board. Should I stop her?”

“No, let her be. Return here,” Aurora replied.

Aurora surmised that Madeline’s sudden trip to Philadelphia was likely to support Sophia, given that Aurora had been strictly controlling Sophia’s living expenses. It made sense for Madeline to provide additional aid.

Afterwards, Aurora went downstairs to wish her grandfather a happy new year. They exchanged red envelopes and enjoyed breakfast together, following which Aurora headed to her studio.

During this holiday, it was essential for Aurora to select a few scripts for Cheryl and Zane to shoot. Daxton’s concert preparations and variety show arrangements were going smoothly, so he didn’t need extra attention.

One of the TV drama scripts in preparation was a historical piece titled Autumn’s Whispering Fan. The male lead, a promising young hero named Gavin, and the female lead, an evil woman from a demonic sect named Belle, meet by chance and fall in love. However, Belle initially approaches Gavin with the intent of avenging her father, killed by Gavin’s master ten years prior.

After enduring numerous hardships and misunderstandings, Gavin and Belle finally overcome their prejudices and hatred, pledging to stay together.

Aurora had finalized the deal, casting Zane as Gavin and Cheryl as Belle, at a newcomer’s rate. Their previous on–screen chemistry in War Against Fate had won over countless fans, and this new collaboration promised to be even more successful. The production company was delighted with this casting and promptly signed the contract with Aurora.

Post–New Year, Zane and Cheryl’s first task would be to shoot this TV drama, aiming for another outstanding performance.

During the costume photo shoot, Aurora unexpectedly encountered Yvonne in a heated argument with another actress, Soraya, who was cast as the second female lead, Thalassa.

In the story, when Gavin and Belle were having a falling out, Thalassa almost succeeded in her wish to marry Gavin.

However, when the truth finally came to light, an inevitable brawl ensued. Thalassa died protecting Gavin. Despite her repeated attempts to ruin the relationship between Gavin and Belle, she is ultimately portrayed as a pitiful character. A good portrayal of Thalassa would be particularly striking.

Yet, regarding Soraya, the actress playing Thalassa, Aurora had not seen much of her. With the commotion surrounding Yvonne, Aurora

Cheryl, while adjusting her headwear, glanced over and said, “You mean Soraya? She probably has some strong backing. I heard Harmony provided her with quite good resources. The role of Thalassa was originally supposed to be Yvonne’s. She probably feels aggrieved about losing the role to Soraya and is causing trouble.”

Aurora listened in as Yvonne fiercely accused Soraya, “You wretch! How dare you steal my role? Do you think you can survive in this

industry?

Soraya, in tears, protested, “I didn’t steal it. Ms. Winters said this role was negotiated for me… so I accepted it…”

“Nonsense! How could Ms. Winters offer you such a role so soon after joining? You must have seduced someone influential in the crew to land such an opportunity. As long as I’m here, you won’t have a successful career!” Yvonne pushed Soraya away and left in a huff, clutching her bag.

Aurora found the whole situation amusing, noting the similarities between Yvonne and Evelyn in their bullying tactics.
