Me And My Billionaire Husband
Chapter 176
Caught off guard by Zane, known for his temper in the industry, Yvonne managed a nervous smile. Before she could respond, Aurora and others were called over to Cheryl, who had fainted and was now lying on the ground.
Zane squatted down to check on Cheryl and yelled, “What are you looking at? Call an ambulance!”
He picked up Cheryl and ran outside, with Aurora Pendleton following behind. At this moment, the trivial matters between Yvonne and Soraya didn’t matter anymore; Cheryl was the top priority.
After the ambulance arrived, Zane and Aurora followed it to the hospital. The doctors took Cheryl for a brain CT scan, leaving them waiting outside.
After half an hour, the doctor came out, and Zane rushed over to ask, “How is she? Is everything okay?”
The doctor, removing his mask, replied, “Don’t worry, the patient just hit her head. There’s subcutaneous bleeding and a mild concussion. She should wake up soon.”
Aurora, anxious, asked, “Does she need to be hospitalized? Is there anything else we should be aware of?”
The doctor nodded and said, “It’s best to keep her in the hospital for a week of observation, given it’s a head injury. Or, she can go home to rest after the test results come back. She might experience dizziness and nausea upon waking – normal symptoms of a concussion. However, she should avoid strenuous activities and rest in bed for the near future.”
Cheryl was moved to a hospital room. Daxton called to discuss a concert guest appearance, so Aurora had to leave, leaving Zane alone with Cheryl.
Cheryl lay quietly in the hospital bed. Contrary to her usual tomboyish look, she was actually quite beautiful and distinct, not like the typical, identical faces in the entertainment industry.
Usually, she and Zane were always arguing and bickering. Zane didn’t realize when he had gotten used to Cheryl’s tantrums and outbursts. Now, seeing her lying there so quietly, he felt oddly unaccustomed to it.
He stayed in the hospital room all afternoon. In the evening, Cheryl finally woke up and, seeing Zane, asked, “Where are we?”
Rubbing his eyes, Zane replied irritably, “In the hospital! You’ve been accidentally injured and brought here!”
Cheryl, holding her head, sat up and rubbed her stomach, “Is there anything to eat? I’m so hungry.”
Zane rolled his eyes again: “Eatisall you think about! Wait a moment!”
He stood up to go order dinner for Cheryl, browsing the news. Cheryl’s hospitalization had already been leaked, which should have been kept confidential.
Aurora saw the news too and was furious at the set. The lead actress was injured, and the details of her condition weren’t even confirmed
–
how could this be leaked?
But from the director to the crew, no one admitted to informing the press, and the news spread anyway.
Soon, a horde of reporters camped outside the hospital, revealing Cheryl’s concussion and possible month–long bed rest. Considering a TV

series shoot takes only three to four months, Cheryl’s absence for a month meant a significant delay and waste of time.

The next day, rumors spread online, not caused by an on–set accident but by a private injury. This meant the production team didn’t need to wait a month for Cheryl out of obligation, potentially wasting a month for nothing.
There were rumors online about the replacement of the female lead in the TV series as Cheryl’s concussion was real, and she did need
rest.
Various talent and media agencies were on the move, as Autumn’s Whispering Fan gained significant publicity. Now, anyone playing Belle would be a guaranteed success, even without promotion, assuring high viewership.
Aurora confronted the director and producer. The director said with a forced smile, “Ms. Aurora Pendleton, it’s not that I don’t want to give Cheryl a chance, but she’ll be out for a month. We’ve already started shooting, and everything is in place. We really can’t afford to
wait.”
The producer was blunt, “An injured actress, especially facial injuries… Even if she recovers, the scars won’t disappear quickly. We can’t risk the show failing just to wait for Cheryl, right?”
Aurora laughed, “It wasn’t me begging you to give Cheryl a chance. You signed her because you thought she was suitable. Now that Cheryl is injured, you want to kick her out? If it weren’t for Yvonne’s interference, would Cheryl be injured? Why doesn’t the crew leak that Yvonne caused Cheryl’s injury?”
The director helplessly said, “Yvonne has backing, as we all know, this is…”
“You say Yvonne has backing? Fine, I’ll let you see what real backing is. Don’t come begging to me later!” Aurora grabbed her bag and
left.
The director and producer didn’t take her seriously. What backing could Aurora, a less favored daughter of the Pendleton family, possibly have? Could she really turn the tables?
