The next day.
26
Early in the morning, Aurora rose from her bed. Today was her grandpa’s birthday, and a banquet was prepared back home. They needed to hurry back.
After a quick preparation, skipping breakfast, they headed to the airport.
Originally, Aurora was to go with her grandfather to the airport, but he firmly insisted she ride with Heath instead.
Aurora, somewhat helpless, wondered if she really was her grandfather’s beloved granddaughter.
In the car, Heath held the steering wheel with one hand and Aurora’s hand with the other, beaming with joy, almost whistling.
Aurora glanced at him helplessly, “Heath, can you focus on driving?”
Heath nodded, “I am driving carefully.”
Aurora persisted, “…with both hands, please.”
Heath shook his head, gripping her hand tighter, “No need.”
At the airport, Heath clung tightly to her hand, following her grandfather onto the plane. The old man was all smiles, almost ready to ask Heath when he would formally propose.
Aurora, utterly speechless, watched the two men’s grinning faces. Was she being sold off?
During the less than three–hour flight, Heath held her hand the entire time. Aurora, unable to tolerate it anymore, found this man, usually so aloof, now grinning like a fool.
She tried to withdraw her hand but couldn’t. Resigned, she said, “Heath, I’m not going anywhere. Why keep holding onto me?”
Heath looked at her, “I’m openly holding my girlfriend’s hand. Is there a problem?”
Aurora demanded, “…let go.”
‘No.‘
“Let go!”
“No.”
“Heath!”
“Here.”
“I need to go to the bathroom!”

Chapter 205
Heath, reluctantly, let go of her hand. Autora flexed her wrist, then headed to the restroom. Returning to her seat, Heath’s hand found hers again, firmly.
As they disembarked, her grandfather waved, I’ll head back to rest. Aurora, come to the banquet early!
Aurora intended to say she’d return now, but Heath pulled her away,
Kieran, waiting at the airport, grinned seeing his boss with Aurora, sensing good news ahead.
“Good morning, Miss Aurora,” Kieran cheerfully greeted as he opened the car door.
Aurora, meeting Kieran’s smile, nodded, “Good morning.”
(26)
Kieran drove them to Heath’s residence and then returned to the company. Heath, holding Aurora’s hand, led her out of the elevator to
her door.
Seeing the door, Aurora remembered Elowen unlocking it nonchalantly, causing her heartache.
Heath produced a new key, placing it in Aurora’s hand, “Changed the lock. This is the only key. Don’t lose it.”
Confused, Aurora asked, “You changed the lock?”
Heath nodded, “The old one’s useless. I’ve given you the key.”
Aurora, examining the key, inquired, “Just one key? What about you?”
Heath smiled, “I’ll use a fingerprint.”
He set up the fingerprint lock, adding her print, “Now, only our fingerprints and your key can open this door. No one else, no codes. Unless Elowen brings explosives, she can’t get in.”
Aurora, looking at the key, then embraced Heath, standing on her toes, clinging to him like a child, burying her head in his neck.
Unable to express her feelings otherwise, she embraced him wholeheartedly. In that moment, her fears and anxieties faded, replaced by
trust and reliance,
Heath, patting her back, smiled, “Let’s open the door.”
Blushing, Aurora nodded, carefully storing the key, then unlocking the door. Smiling, she said, “Please come in.”
Heath, holding her hand, entered and closed the door.
Aurora fetched slippers from the cabinet. The usual pairs were gone, replaced with matching couple’s slippers adorned with simple heart designs.
Stunned by the slippers, Aurora asked, “Did you throw out the old ones?”
Heath nodded while changing shoes, “Yes, they were dirty. I bought new ones.”

Chapter 205
Aurora, smiling, changed her shoes, “I really liked the old ones!”
Heath, charmed by her coy smile, suddenly scooped her up, heading to the bedroom. He gently laid her on the bed, gazing at her with a playful look, “What do you like?”
Pouting, Aurora replied, “I liked the old slippers, and you threw them away.”
Heath chuckled, “Then let me make it up to you.”
Curious, Aurora watched him. Heath leaned down, capturing her softness.
Five minutes later, Heath, straightening his crumpled shirt, asked, “What would you like to eat? I’ll cook.”
“Eat dirt! Aurora, playfully frustrated, threw a pillow at him.
Heath, patiently, placed it back, caressing her hair, “Rory, you know what I like best.”
Attempting to bite him, Aurora missed as Heath dodged, leaving the room to her exasperated shout, “Get lost!”
“Okay!” Heath complied, exiting the bedroom.
Aurora, covering her forehead, felt her blood pressure rise from frustration.
If it wasn’t illegal, she might have pushed Heath down the stairs.
