Ultimately, Heath didn’t cook, as he really had a business trip scheduled. Kieran had already called three times, urging him to head to the airport to avoid missing the flight.

Aurora, on the other hand, needed to attend her grandfather’s birthday banquet. She had to return before the evening’s dance began, lest Madeline seize the opportunity to nag her endlessly.

Concerned about Aurora’s styling for the banquet, Heath arranged for a stylist to come to their home. He didn’t trust her returning to the Pendleton’s to get ready, fearing Madeline and her daughter might tamper with Aurora’s dress.

The stylist chose a deep blue strapless gown for Aurora, adorned with sparkling diamonds that seemed like stars hanging on her skirt, radiantly stunning.

The asymmetric hemline of the dress, shorter in the front, showcased Aurora’s smooth and delicate legs. Her strappy sandals added to her tall, enchanting figure.

Her hair was elegantly styled with a few curled locks framing her face, enhancing her charming beauty. The subtle makeup and tasteful earrings were sure to make her the most beautiful girl of the night.

Watching Aurora’s dazzling appearance, Heath felt a twinge of annoyance. Did the stylist always have to outdo themselves? Could they not tone it down a bit?

Aurora caught Heath’s conflicted expression and asked, “Don’t I look good?”

Heath examined her again, his gaze lingering on her well–proportioned legs, again pinching his brow in frustration. Was it too late to

criticize the dress now?

Heath stood up, approached Aurora, and tentatively suggested, “How about… you wear a T–shirt and shorts instead?”

Aurora, amused and exasperated, replied, “Do you want Madeline to make fun of me?”

Heath, embracing her, looked into her eyes seriously and instructed, “Don’t dance with anyone else!”

Aurora nodded helplessly, “Okay.”

“And don’t look at other men!”

“What if they look at me?”

“Have Jay throw them out!”

Aurora, speechless at his overprotectiveness, listened as Heath suggested, “Why don’t you come with me on the business trip? I can have Kieran book your ticket right now.”

Aurora smiled helplessly, “Heath, if you dawdle any longer, Kieran is going to lose his mind.”

Heath, reluctantly, took Aurora downstairs where Jay was waiting to take her to the banquet.

Heath was discontent, having to part with his new girlfriend so soon.

Aurora, however, was concerned about Heath’s involvement with Eamon Tronside and the KING organization. Last time Heath claimed he was on a business trip, he ended up getting shot in the shoulder, taking a long time to recover.

Aurora, holding onto him, asked earnestly, “Heath, tell me the truth. Are you really going on a business trip?”

Heath nodded, ‘I’m going to the U.S. to scout for a new branch.”

Aurora, clinging to his shirt, inquired further, “Will you meet Eamon?”

Heath, with a smile, reassured her, “If there’s time, I might meet him. But if Eamon is out on a mission and not in the U.S., I won’t see him.

Aurora felt somewhat relieved, “You’re not getting involved in Eamon’s organization’s tasks, right?”

Heath soothed her worries, “Relax, it’s really just a work trip.”

Only then did Aurora let go of his shirt, advising, “Come back early and stay safe.”

Heath kissed her forehead, reminding her, “Don’t forget your promise not to dance with other men.”

Aurora, laughing, pushed him gently, “Go on, Kieran is about to cry.”

Heath finally got into Kieran’s car, and Aurora boarded Jay’s, heading to the Pendleton’s.

The banquet invitations were sent to various prominent figures in the city. Aurora also invited Cheryl, Daxton, and Vespera, hoping they’d join if they could.

Vespera, with nothing better to do, agreed to attend, despite her injured hand. As she was about to call a taxi, Alaric’s flashy Ferrari pulled up in front of her. He got out and offered, “Let me take you.”

Vespera was surprised and initially refused, not wanting to trouble Alaric. But seeing her bandaged hand, Alaric insisted, revealing his guilt over her injury. Lysander had told him how he had pushed her onto glass shards during a drunken rage, causing her hand to require

stitches.

Feeling responsible, Alaric was determined to make amends, however he could.

As Vespera struggled to find a taxi, she reluctantly accepted Alaric’s offer. In the car, she thanked him, to which Alaric responded with a smile, “No need for formalities. I’m the one who’s always causing trouble for you.”
