Chapter 235
Lysander, with a gloomy face, pleaded, ‘Please, can you not come for every little thing? You make me look bad!”
Heath frowned slightly, Aurora’s wound is from a gunshot.”
Lysander glanced at Aurora, ‘Yes, a gunshot wound from half a month ago. I bet the bullet that hit her is already rusting! Do you guys lack common sense?”
Heath shook his head, “It’s just concern.”
Lysander sighed, “Please, you guys stop showing off. The whole world knows you have a girlfriend.”
Aurora’s cheeks flushed, “You said “you guys“, who else is there besides Heath and I?”
Lysander groaned, “Alaric! Vespera has had a knife wound for nearly two months, and Alaric keeps bringing her here as if this is his private hospital!”
Heath shrugged, “He owns shares here.”
Lysander was speechless.
Aurora, not caring about the rest, was curious about Vespera, “Does Alaric bring Vespera often?”
Lysander turned to Aurora, complaining, “Exactly! I tried to set him up with Vespera to get him away from Elowen, not to have him pestering me every day!”
Heath nodded, “Serves you right for meddling.”
Lysander realized he was the one who had been pushing Alaric towards Vespera, painting Elowen as manipulative.
Lysander slumped on his desk, “The world reeks of romance, and I’m the only one with the fresh scent of singleness…”
Heath, flipping through a magazine, commented, “Those women waiting outside the hospital every day to see you aren’t patients, are they?‘
Lysander retorted, “Those are not my type, Heath!”
Heath raised an eyebrow, “You expect to meet a life partner in nightclubs?”
Aurora watched Lysander’s frustrated expression and quietly tugged at Heath, “Let’s… let’s go…”
She estimated that among Lysander’s group, no one had a sharper tongue than Heath… She had seen Lysander wanting to stab Heath with a scalpel every day…
Heath put down the magazine and left the hospital with Aurora.
After ensuring Aurora’s injury was minor, Heath took her out for dinner. With a video conference scheduled for the evening, Heath went off to work, and Aurora had Jay take her back to the Pendleton residence.

Chapter 235
After celebrating her grandfather’s birthday, she had tushed to the U.S. for a business trip with Heath, followed by a trip to Philadelphia for script discussions. Combined with her accidental gunshot wound, she hadn’t returned home for quite some time.
Upon entering, her grandfather, still awake, was playing chess with Maxwell in the living room. Seeing Aurora, he glanced up then haughtily turned away, ignoring her.
Aurora scurried over, ‘Grandpa! Look at me, I’m back!”
Her grandfather continued his chess move, shaking his head, “Who’s that? I don’t recognize her.”
Aurora playfully shook his arm, “Grandpa, it’s your favorite granddaughter Aurora! You adore me the most!”
The old man smacked his lips, “My granddaughter has been missing for over ten days.”
Aurora clung to him, ‘Grandpa! I know it was my bad! I won’t do it again!”
Her grandfather finally softened, scolding her, “Naughty girl! You remember to come back?”
Aurora sat down, grinning, “I was just busy with work. I missed you so much! At meals, in bed, always!”
He was charmed by her words, poking her forehead, “Alright! You’re good with words.”
Aurora rubbed her head, “Since grandpa’s busy with chess, I’ll go take a bath and come down later to chat.”
Her grandfather nodded, letting her go. Aurora didn’t bring up her recent argument with Maxwell or even glance his way, acting as if he didn’t exist.
After her bath, she found her grandfather gone and only Maxwell sitting alone under dim lighting, lost in thought.
As Aurora approached, Maxwell snapped back to reality, his voice smooth as jade, “Aurora, you’re back.”
She nodded without a word and turned to leave.
‘Aurora!” Maxwell called out to her.
She stopped, turned around, and asked, “Yes? What is it?”
Maxwell hesitated, “About last time, I’m sorry… I was….”
“There’s no need, Aurora cut him off, “If that’s all, I’ll be going.”
“Aurora!” Maxwell called her again, “I never intended to be your enemy, nor have I done anything to hurt you.”
Aurora smiled faintly, “Our paths differ, and we have nothing in common. What you think or do is irrelevant to me.”
“And if I help you? What if I assist you in what you want to do?” Maxwell said.
In the dim light, his gentle eyes shone brightly, momentarily dazzling Aurora.
