But Aurora couldn’t finish her sentence, the thought of parting with Heath was unimaginable, let alone coping if that day ever came.

Vespera, busy dabbing at her tears and touching up her smeared makeup, managed a messy yet composed look. After tidying herself up, she forced a smile at Aurora, “It’s okay! It’s over!”

Aurora mirrored her smile, reassuring, ‘It will pass.”

With her eyes still red, Vespera nodded. Aurora first dropped Vespera off at her home before returning to the Pendleton residence to have dinner with her grandfather.

During the meal, her grandfather inquired, “Sweetheart, how are things progressing with Heath?”

Caught off guard, Aurora responded, “There’s no progress.”

Frowning, Grandpa pressed, “He hasn’t mentioned marriage? You’ve been staying with him for so long, and he hasn’t talked about marrying you?”

Aurora’s cheeks flushed as she protested, “Grandpa! What are you saying? I’m just staying there temporarily; nothing has happened…”

“That’s not acceptable!” her grandpa insisted, growing agitated. “You’ve been knowing each other for two or three years; you should be thinking about the future.”

Aurora lowered her gaze, her grandfather’s words stirring a sudden realization. She and Heath had known each other for three years.

When she first met Heath, she was an innocent high schooler, and now she was nearly a college graduate.

Time had flown by so swiftly, yet moments with Heath seemed frozen in time, like her, in an evening dress, falling into Heath’s embrace as if it happened just yesterday.

Her grandpa sighed again and said no more. After dinner, he retired early to rest. Aurora sat in the living room, watching his retreating figure, a wave of sadness washing over her.

She remembered when she first woke up, the old man was full of life and vigor. How had he become bent and unable to stand straight so suddenly?

Before long, Chery’s Dual Facades wrapped up filming, and Aurora was specially invited to the wrap party, having played a crucial role in securing the script.

Aurora stuck out her tongue, explaining, “Mrs. Luce and I hit it off, so I acknowledged her as my godmother.”

Chery laughed awkwardly, exchanged a few words with Mrs. Luce, then pulled Aurora aside, “Aurora, are you serious? Did you really accept

Mrs. Luce as your godmother?”

Aurora nodded, “Yes.”

“Aurora, did you do it just to secure the script? Don’t sacrifice yourself like that!” Chery was visibly concerned, worried Aurora had compromised herself for her sake.

Aurora burst into laughter, reassuring her, “Don’t worry, my feelings for her are genuine, and she’s been very kind to me. There’s no

sacrifice.”

Chery nodded half–convinced, “Alright then.”

Aurora was cautious about drinking at the party, mindful of her past instances of overindulging.

After the wrap party, Jay drove Aurora home, and Chery returned to her apartment.

The next day, Aurora received a photo from a media outlet, depicting Zane drunkenly sprawled on the sidewalk, eventually being helped away, a clear image of a young man drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
