Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 248

Concerned Autots might overindulge, Heath kept pouring her juice, and the contentedly upped watere cong

Lysander, observing the couple, inquired, You two have been together for more than a minute. When are y gring in the 2

Caught off guard, Aurora lowered her head in silence, while Heath, busy serving her food, retorted, Mind yox

Lysander:

Alaric declared, I don’t care; I’ve already called dibs on the best man role. No one’s taking that from met

Heath glanced at him, teasing, Are you sure you won’t be the one getting married first?

Alaric’s face fell as he lamented, I wish! But who would marry me?

Lysander, taking a sip of wine, chided, I don’t mean to be harsh, but what’s so great about Elowen? Just because you grew up together? I’ve grown up with plenty of girls, and I’m not hung up like you are!

Zane chimed in, siding with Lysander, I’m with Lysander on this. Elowen is nothing but trouble. I don’t know what my brother sees in her. Marry her, and I won’t acknowledge her as my sisterinlaw. In fact, it’s either her or me in this house!

Aurora, puzzled, asked, Zane has such a big issue with Elowen?

Zane, with a grimace, explained, Think about it. If my brother marries her, she’ll be causing drama left and right. Then she’ll run to my brother, crying and sniffling. How is anyone supposed to live like that?

Considering Elowen’s demure front in the presence of Heath and Alaric, Aurora shivered at the thought, finding some truth in Zane’s

words.

Given Zane’s temperament, living under the same roof as Elowen would likely mean daily arguments.

Alaric, mumbling with his head down, said, It’s not like I insisted on marrying her

Lysander continued, Look at Vespera. She’s got looks, a figure, and, unlike Elowen, her thoughts aren’t as complicated. Are you blind?

After a sip of wine, Alaric responded, What do her looks and figure have to do with me? They’re not mine

Aurora, who had been quietly eating, suddenly mentioned, Vespera’s childhood friend is getting married.

Alaric perked up, Really? He’s the one getting married?

Aurora nodded, That’s what Vespera said. The wedding’s probably happening soon.

Alaric:

The pain was sharp and swift, like a dagger to the heart.

Aurora, looking at Alaric, said, It is what it is. You’d find out sooner or later, so I told you. But if you can’t lea with Vespera.

Alaric remained silent, his thoughts in turmoil. Letting go of Elowen, not pursuing Vesperahe couldn’t make sense of it all. Recently, had been avoiding Elowen, and as for Vespera, he barely saw her.

Zane, sitting aside, advised, Bro, don’t ruin some girl’s life. And don’t marry Elowen. You might as well stay single forever.

Alaric, annoyed, threw a sweet potato at him, You’re the one who’ll end up alone! As if you have a girlfriend!

Zane deflated like a punctured balloon, slumping in his chair, silently chewing his food, no longer speaking.

Lysander nudged Zane again, asking, Didn’t you say there was a spark with Chery last time? Why has it gone quiet?

Zane muttered, What’s the use of my spark? She’s all hung up on her lifesaver!

Bringing up this topic infuriated Zane. He hurled a sweet potato at Alaric, exclaiming, Bro! What’s with Morrow at your company? Doesn’t he have work to do? Hanging around Chery all day! Can you blacklist him or something?

Alaric shot a disdainful look at his foolish brother, Morrow is a secondtier celebrity, not doing anything illegal. Why would I blacklist him for no reason?

Zane’s face fell, Then what am I supposed to do when he’s always around Chery?

Alaric scoffed, Look at you, lacking any ambition! Blacklisting him will make Chery notice you? If that worked, I might as well eliminate Heath, so Elowen would notice you!

Aurora casually tossed her cup, spilling half the juice over Alaric’s face and sweater. Alaric, startled, turned to Aurora.

Aurora slowly set down her cup, Oops, my hand slipped.

Alaric:

Was defending Heath worth this overreaction?

Heath handed Aurora some napkins to wipe her hands, saying, Don’t be mad. He can’t beat me.*

Lysander nudged Alaric, Then you better hurry! You’ll soon be out of rivals!

Heath scoffed, He was never considered a rival to begin with.

Alaric:

The pain was sharp and swift, like a dagger to the heart.

Aurora, looking at Alaric, said, It is what it is. You’d find out sooner or later, so I told you. But if you can’t let go of Elowen, don’t mess with Vespera.

Chapter 248

Alaric:

Yes, he truly couldn’t beat Heath. Why does he always end up bullied wherever he goes?

Alaric stood up to change his clothes in the bathroom. Zane, slouched in his chair, turned to Aurora, Seriously, Aurora, can’t you help me

figure out a way to pursue Chery?

Aurora glared at him, You want me to help you sabotage Chery’s career?

Zane, frustrated, tousled his hair into a mess, Can’t we just ban Morrow from seeing Chery?

Aurora sighed, Chery is my artist, not my prisoner.

Lysander sneakily prodded Zane, Have you confessed your feelings to Chery?

Zane shook his head, No! I was about to, but then I saw her with Morrow and got so angry. We argue all the time, how could I confess?

Lysander clicked his tongue, That’s where you’re wrong. Your competitor is gently nurturing her, while you lose your temper at the drop of a hat. No wonder Chery would run. Look at Heath, has he ever lost his temper with Aurora?

Heath, peeling shrimp for Aurora, said, There are no other men around Rory.

Lysander hummed, It’s just an example. If I constantly hung out with Aurora, Heath wouldn’t lose his temper with her.

Heath nodded, Hmm.

See? Heath is always patient with Aurora. Notice why he has a girlfriend and you don’tLysander was about to delve into a lengthy lecture for Zane.

Heath cut him off, If you take my girlfriend out, I’d break your legs.

Lysander:

It was just an example. No need for those sinister looks; he’s quite fainthearted

Aurora intervened, Don’t encourage him! What’s this obsession with making him confess?

Lysander helplessly said, I’m just offering some advice.

Aurora, massaging her temples, suggested, Can it wait till next year? After this year’s film festival, once Chery’s position is stable, can you stir things up next year?

Zane thought for a moment, Deal! But after the festival, if I confess, you can’t stop me!*

Aurora nodded, Iwon’t stop you, promise!

When Alaric

I don’t even have one, why are you the on

Zane retorted, Since when does this kind of thing depend on who came first?

Having drunk quite a bit, Alaric decided not to dwell on it. He sat down and heartily indulged in the food before him. The hot pot meal stretched from dusk well into the night, past ten.

Aurora, after hours in the car and more hours fishing with Heath, touched by a hint of alcohol, was now fighting off sleep.

Alaric, Lysander, and the others, buoyed by their drinks, seemed to grow more energetic, showing no signs of wanting to sleep.

Aurora, barely holding up, turned to Heath, You guys keep talking, I’m off to sleep.*

Heath nodded. Aurora went upstairs to her own room, took a shower, and fell asleep.

Not long after Aurora left, Heath put down his glass, no longer interested in drinking, and decided to head upstairs.

Alaric held him back, What’s the rush? It’s still early. Why head back now?

Heath replied, You wouldn’t understand. You don’t have a girlfriend.

Alaric was left speechless, feeling the sting of those words like a sharp knife to the heart.

Heath went upstairs, pushed open the master bedroom door, not surprised to find the girl’s figure absent from the bed.

After a shower and donning a robe, Heath moved to the adjacent bedroom, where Aurora lay deep in sleep.

Approaching the bed, Heath pulled back the covers, stretched out his arm, and Aurora, with a few mumbles, rolled into his embrace.

Heath chuckled softly, turned off the bedside lamp, and fell asleep holding the girl in his arms.

The next day, Aurora, groggily opening her eyes, found herself facing Heath’s handsome features up close, his thick, long lashes sparking a tinge of envy.

Confused, she remembered opting for the guest room the previous night, wondering how she ended up waking in the same room as Heath.

Attempting to get up, Heath’s arm quickly pulled her back into a tight embrace, his voice heavy with sleep, Sleep a bit more.

Stuck between actions, Aurora lay awkwardly, eventually drifting off again in her daze.
