When Alaric emerged, he found Zane with a sour expression. Alaric shot him a look, “What’s with the long face? Its fet a girlfriend
I don’t even have one, why are you the one fussing?”
Zane retorted, “Since when does this kind of thing depend on who came first?”
Having drunk quite a bit, Alaric decided not to dwell on it. He sat down and heartily indulged in the food before him. The hot pot real stretched from dusk well into the night, past ten.
Aurora, after hours in the car and more hours fishing with Heath, touched by a hint of alcohol, was now fighting off sleep.
Alaric, Lysander, and the others, buoyed by their drinks, seemed to grow more energetic, showing no signs of wanting to sleep.
Aurora, barely holding up, turned to Heath, “You guys keep talking, I’m off to sleep.”
Heath nodded. Aurora went upstairs to her own room, took a shower, and fell asleep.
Not long after Aurora left, Heath put down his glass, no longer interested in drinking, and decided to head upstairs.
Alaric held him back, “What’s the rush? It’s still early. Why head back now?”
Heath replied, “You wouldn’t understand. You don’t have a girlfriend.”
Alaric was left speechless, feeling the sting of those words like a sharp knife to the heart.
Heath went upstairs, pushed open the master bedroom door, not surprised to find the girl’s figure absent from the bed.
After a shower and donning a robe, Heath moved to the adjacent bedroom, where Aurora lay deep in sleep.
Approaching the bed, Heath pulled back the covers, stretched out his arm, and Aurora, with a few mumbles, rolled into his embrace.
Heath chuckled softly, turned off the bedside lamp, and fell asleep holding the girl in his arms.
The next day, Aurora, groggily opening her eyes, found herself facing Heath’s handsome features up close, his thick, long lashes sparking a
tinge of envy.
Confused, she remembered opting for the guest room the previous night, wondering how she ended up waking in the same room as Heath.
Attempting to get up, Heath’s arm quickly pulled her back into a tight embrace, his voice heavy with sleep, ‘Sleep a bit more.”
Stuck between actions, Aurora lay awkwardly, eventually drifting off again in her daze.

Chapter 249
Waking once more, Heath was already up, leaning against the headboard, working on his laptop.
Opening her eyes to the sight of an attractive man diligently working was indeed a pleasant view,
Noticing her awake, Heath asked, “Hungry?”
Blinking, Aurora asked, “Why are you in my room?”
AGD
Heath smiled, setting aside the laptop, and with a swift move, pinned Aurora down, “Strictly speaking, every room here is mine, including you.
Aurora, hands pushing against Heath, laughed awkwardly, “Heath, get up now.”
Heath, enjoying her flushed urgency, remained still, “What’s the rush? Sleep a bit more?”
Aurora glared, “What time is it! If we don’t get up, Alaric might think we’re up to no good!”
Heath’s gaze darkened, “Rory, I actually wouldn’t mind getting up to something bad with you.”
Aurora was speechless.
What was with this sudden suggestive comment?
Heath clung to Aurora, showering her with kisses until she was nearly at her boiling point. Only then did he let her go, suggesting, “Go
freshen up.”
Afterward, Heath resumed his position at the headboard, continuing with his documents, acting as if the earlier mischief hadn’t
happened.
After Aurora freshened up and came out, Heath finally got out of bed to wash his face, and the two of them cleaned up and headed
downstairs.
The dining area downstairs was in complete disarray, as if it had been raided. Bottles were scattered everywhere, and dishes and utensils were strewn about. Three grown men were sprawled out, two on the living room couch and one on the floor, all deeply asleep.
Aurora, incredulous, remarked, “Did they really sleep here all night?”
Heath, equally resigned, glanced at Aurora, nodded, and suggested, “Let’s pack up and head back.”
Aurora wholeheartedly agreed with the decision. Spending the weekend with Alaric and the others felt like surviving a battle, far less restful than simply staying home.
Carefully stepping over the bodies on the floor, Heath and Aurora, luggage in tow, made their way to the car. Heath grabbed some bread and milk from the restaurant for Aurora, suggesting she snack on them and they’d eat something else once back in the city.

Aurora gestured towards the villa, “What about them? We’re just leaving them like this?”
Heath started the car, nodding, ‘Yes, someone will come to clean up later and wake them.

The return trip was quick, and once back in the city, Heath dropped the luggage at their place. Aurora seemed tired, so Heath suggested
she rest while he worked on some documents in the living room.
When Aurora woke up hungry in the afternoon, Heath took her out for a meal.
As they were served, Aurora asked, “Do you know anyone on the jury for the film festival?”
Heath raised an eyebrow, “Why? Looking for a backdoor?”
Aurora scoffed, “I don’t need any backdoors. Just keep an eye out for me, see if Evelyn is trying to pull any strings.”
Heath nodded, “I can do that, but what’s in it for me?”
“What do you want?” Aurora asked.
Heath joked, “How about you repay me with your hand in marriage?”
Aurora’s face turned red, and she playfully scolded him, “Stop talking nonsense!”
Heath tapped his fingers on the table, “Rory, if I remember correctly, our one–year agreement is almost up.”
For Heath, as long as Aurora hadn’t resolved her past issues or approached the truth, he couldn’t propose outright.
Aurora paused, remembering her promise to reveal the truth to Heath within a year.
But the year had flown by, and she was no closer to resolving her mysteries past. The issues she had vowed to address remained
untouched.
Aurora remained silent, and Heath didn’t press further.
Now, the young woman was steadily by his side, no longer distant as before. Her reliance and trust in him grew day by day, a development Heath found satisfying.
He didn’t care about her past or her identity. All he cared about was Aurora’s sincerity.
Aurora, eating quietly, suddenly asked, “Have you heard about my mother?”
#eath was taken aback but nodded, I’ve heard a bit. What about her?”

could she have become insane?”
Heath watched her, the usually lively girl now subdued, her vitality seemingly drained at the mention of her mother, embodying vulnerability that contrasted sharply with her usual exuberance,
