The crowd erupted into cheers again as Chery smiled and gave a slight bow to the host in gratitude for the assist, then turned to stand before the microphone, facing the camera to deliver her acceptance speech.
*First and foremost, I am profoundly grateful to the judges for their recognition, and to my fans for their tolerance and love. I promise to continue striving for excellence, dedicating my best works to all of you. Most importantly, I must extend my deepest thanks to my boss, Miss Aurora!” Chery bowed slightly towards Aurora, who was seated below the stage, and said, “It was Aurora who believed in me to take the lead, strongly recommending me for the television series. It is also Aurora who has invested her efforts and resources to craft this masterpiece, Dual Facades, for me. Without Aurora, there would be no Chery standing on this path of acting today. This award holds great significance, but half of the credit should go to Aurora!”
The applause was thunderous. Aurora, with tears in her eyes, faced the camera and the tens of thousands watching the live broadcast, unable to hold back her tears, she laughed and wiped them away.
Initially, Aurora’s sole purpose in promoting Chery was to establish her own career, to strike at Evelyn and Sophia, and to secure her position within the Pendleton family.
To put it bluntly, every artist was a pawn in Aurora’s game, with hopes that every move she made would lead her to victory in the end.
Yet, as time passed, Chery had unknowingly become her best friend and closest confidante, someone Aurora could not bear to see slighted or hurt in the complex and chaotic entertainment industry.
Thus, Aurora fought tooth and nail to secure resources for Chery, to protect her public image, and to fend off Zane’s enthusiastic
advances.
A friend should protect her dreams.
And now, Aurora had finally placed Chery on the throne of Best Actress, the girl who once stood on the high school drama stage in a princess dress, had realized her dream of performing arts.
The camera shifted to Aurora as Chery spoke. Standing up, Aurora took the microphone handed to her by a staff member, looked up at Chery on stage, and said, “We have achieved this together, congratulations, my queen of actresses, you truly deserve it!”
Cheers erupted from the audience as Chery, too, shed tears. Alaric tenderly supported Chery off the stage and escorted her to her seat.
Once seated, Aurora wiped Chery’s tears away, “Alright, stop crying, don’t give the media something to laugh about.”
Chery sniffled and laughed, “Who made it so emotional, calling me your queen of actresses!”
Aurora laughed, “Weren’t you the one who started the sentimentality? That long acceptance speech could be turned into a composition!”
Zane, sitting beside them, scoffed, “Women! So melodramatic!”
Chery glared at him, “Mind you own business!”
Evelyn and Yvonne, sitting behind, had no smiles on their faces, only managing a forced smile for the camera to maintain their image, an
as not to let the media write about them being jealous of Chery.
The live chat exploded with activity, Chery’s fans completely dominating, even overshadowing the fans of Zane’s Idol group.
“My Chery is the Best Actress!”
“Winning Best Actress with a debut film! Who else can compare?”
“Chery’s speech was so moving! Made me cry!”
“To celebrate Chery’s win, I’ve decided to have a pack of spicy strips!”
“Count me in for another pack!”
“Chery and Aurora are like fairy tale besties!”
“Do you farm while I weave? Who needs men? Just be together!”
“Thank you, Aurora, for taking care of our Chery!”
“Am I the only one who thinks it’s too harsh for Yvonne to be a runner–up for three years?”
“The comment above makes sense… But what does that have to do with us fans?”
Chery’s own fan group organized a lively support club that actively promoted her films and TV shows.
Holding her trophy, Chery whispered to Aurora, and the photographer, showing courtesy, occasionally swept the lens over Aurora and
Chery.
Although Aurora wasn’t a celebrity, her beauty was consistently recognized, earning her a following of “beauty fans” on social media. Her backing of an award–winning actress now further boosted her fanbase.
Every sweep of the camera over the duo sparked lively comments in the live stream.
Next up was the award for Best Actor at the Hundred Flowers Awards, a fierce competition for this year’s title.
Among the nominees were Zane and, surprisingly, Morrow. Although considered a second–tier actor, Morrow had saved Chery’s life during their collaboration and had his exposure significantly increased by Skyline, who saw an opportunity to promote him. This year, Skyline even let him lead a movie, marking him as a heavily promoted talent.
This caused Zane to sulk and give Alaric the silent treatment for days, accusing Alaric of being disloyal.
Alaric, unfazed, teased Zame: “Wasn’t it you who tore up the contract and jumped ship to Fairview?”
Sane had no comeback, recognizing his own misstep. Had he stayed with Skyline, he might be the one overshadowing Morrow now.
The presenter took the stage and announced this year’s Best Actor winner goes to Zane!
Aurora was shocked; she knew Zane was a good actor and had a chance, but never imagined he’d clinch the title with certainty.
Zane, momentarily stunned, then calmly ascended the stage. Unlike Chery, he wasn’t overly excited about the award, treating it with a
nonchalance.
Accepting the trophy, Zane gave a brief speech: “Thanks to the judges for their recognition, to my fans for their love, and of course, to my
boss for the meticulous cultivation.”
His speech, short and very much in Zane’s style, was met with applause as he stepped down with the trophy.
Sitting down, Soraya congratulated him with a smile: “Congrats, Zane!”
Zane scoffed, “What’s there to congratulate? I’d rather have a car.”
Aurora was speechless, doubting the award’s merit despite knowing Heath wouldn’t bother rigging the jury for her.
She was already satisfied with Chery winning; Zane’s victory was like hitting the lottery, a delightful surprise.
Zane, with a smirk, retorted, “Look who’s talking? Shouldn’t I be winning?”
Aurora, in a good mood, didn’t bother arguing and playfully agreed, “Right, the Best Actor speaks the truth!”
Chery remarked, “Aurora, you’ve changed.”
Aurora shook her head, “Materialism drives people mad…”
Zane was speechless.
The live chat went wild, the screen nearly obscured by a flood of comments.
“Zane, marry me!”
“The soldier brother from The Pianist is too handsome!”
“I thought Zane was just an idol, but why does he look so good with a gun?”
“Zane, don’t ever go back to being fair–skinned; you look hotter tanned!”
What kind of magic boss is Aurora? Two major awards at once!”
“I’m the same age as Aurora, so why am I still picking my toes in bed while she’s the boss of the Best Actor and Actress?”
“I’ll be a fan of Aurora for life! A powerful woman!”
“Not sure about powerful woman, but her eye for talent is spot on! Zane was once the little tyrant no one in the entertainment industry
wanted to handle!”
“Utterly impressive!”
Suddenly, Aurora’s once inconspicuous, small workshop–like studio had produced both a Best Actor and a Best Actress, promising to change the entertainment industry’s dynamics overnight.
