Me And My Billionaire Husband
Chapter 252
Aurora returned to bet seat, only hat Chery to midge her and suggest, Aurora, lets switch places.
Aurora blinked in confusion and asked, Switch what?
Chery stood up, gently pushing Aurora, explaining. “You take the inner seat, and I’ll sit by the aisle to get some air.
Although Aurora didn’t quite grasp why Chery suddenly wanted to switch seats, she cooperated, standing up and moving to the inside.
This rearrangement placed Chery by the aisle, with Aurora in the middle, flanked closely by Zane and Soraya on the other side
As soon as Aurora sat down, she noticed Soraya occasionally whispering something to Zane, who listened with a good–natured patience. They seemed to be enjoying their conversation. Glancing at Chery, who sat aside with a less–than–pleased expression, Aurora mused, “Chery’s reaction suggests she’s not entirely indifferent to Zane!*
Elowen returned shortly after, and Evelyn immediately welcomed her with eager hospitality, asking, “Elowen, what took you so long?
Everything alright?”
With a strained smile, Elowen shook her head and replied, “All’s well, just had a chat with Aurora.”
Evelyn frowned, questioning, “What’s there to talk about with her? Aren’t you worried it might lower your status? You’re just too kind…”
Aurora, seated in the front, smirked without turning back or retorting.
Evelyn was clinging to the hope of becoming “Mrs. Fairbank of the future.” Aurora thought, “Let her cling. The day of reckoning will come, and I’ll personally ensure her face is fittingly swollen.”
The opening performances of the film festival concluded, paving the way for the awards ceremony. The host lavished praise on the attending stars and celebrities, offending no one.
After various awards were presented, it was time for the Best Actress competition at the film festival, with Chery, Yvonne, and two other actresses as the nominees.
Yvonne and Chery were the center of attention. Yvonne, having navigated the entertainment industry for years amid rumors of powerful backers, had never been directly challenged, thus maintaining a precarious respect. Since allying with Evelyn, Yvonne’s career resources had significantly improved, despite previous nominations without wins. Another year as a runner–up would be awkward for Yvonne.
Chery, on the other hand, was a fresh face in the entertainment scene, not just another pretty face from a reality show but a talented actress who had delivered one stellar performance after another, particularly dazzling in Dual Facades.
Chery gripped Aurora’s hand nervously, eyes fixed on the photos of the four actresses flashing on the big screen. Although unsure of winning, securing the award would be ideal, especially since Aurora had exerted so much effort to secure this prime opportunity for her.

Yvonne, seated to the side, was also tense. Another year as a runner–up would be her third, a prospect ridiculed by newcomers and pressured by her family to leave the spotlight for marriage considerations.
Evelyn leaned in, whispering reassurances, “Don’t worry, the Best Actress award will be yours,”
Yvonne nodded, aware of the efforts Evelyn and Wilde had made to secure her win. She was just too anxious; winning the award before retiring would be a graceful exit, but retiring after three years of near–misses would be a disgrace.
Aurora, sitting in front, felt her phone vibrate twice- a message from Kieran: “Miss Aurora, it’s all taken care of.”
Axt
Aurora ended her call, having asked Heath to keep an eye on the judges for any underhanded deals favoring Yvonne. To her surprise, there
indeed was one!
She didn’t dream of Chery sweeping the awards, but she was determined not to let the likes of Evelyn and Yvonne gain any unfair
advantage.
The presenter for the awards turned out to be Alaric, whose rare public appearances always caused a stir. Dressed sharply in a suit, he ascended the stage to cheers, his striking looks undeniably contributing to the fervor.
Evelyn’s eyes sparkled upon seeing Alaric, nudging Elowen, “Elowen, you and Mr. Alaric Strider are tight. Make sure to drag him over for a
drink at the dinner.”
Elowen nodded with a smile, “Sure thing, I’ll call him over.”
This implied Elowen had Alaric at her beck and call, much to Zane’s displeasure.
Unaware of the scheming below, Alaric cleared his throat and began, “It’s an honor to present the Best Actress award at this year’s
Hundred Flowers Award!”
The crowd erupted in applause as he took the envelope from a hostess. Not knowing the winner yet, he silently hoped it wasn’t Yvonne, whose pretense he couldn’t stand, let alone share a celebratory hug with.
Opening the envelope, Alaric frowned briefly, then smiled, announcing into the microphone, “This year’s Best Actress at the Hundred Flowers Award goes to–Chery!”
The applause was thunderous. Chery sat stunned. Was it really her? Winning for her debut film?
Aurora nudged her, “Chery! What are you spacing out for? Get up there!”
“Oh! Right!” Chery, usually composed, displayed a rare moment of fluster, endearingly so.
Fellow actors congratulated her as she made her way to the stage, careful not to trip in her excitement.
Soraya watched enviously, “Chery is truly amazing!”

Zane nodded in agreement, “Yeah, she is.”
Evelyn, on the other hand, was dumbfounded. Wilde had assured her, the judge he introduced would secure Wonne the sand fayda sa
efforts and flattery, what seemed a sure win was lost to Chery
Yvonne’s expression darkened, her grip tightening on her dress to prevent any unsightly outbursts that the media might captive,
For three years!
Yvonne had always been the runner–up since entering the industry,
She thought with Evelyn’s help, defeating a newcomer like Chery was a certainty. Yet, she faced defeat again.
Disbelief was an understatement for Yvonne, but the reality was undeniable, Chery, in a stunning evening gown, ascended the stage. elegance and grace reminiscent of a princess.
Overwhelmed, Chery nearly stumbled, but Alaric’s quick reflexes saved her, discreetly preventing any embarrassment before the media.
“Congratulations, truly well–deserved!” Alaric said.
Accepting the trophy, Chery bowed slightly, “Thank you, Alaric!”
Alaric chuckled, “Smile a bit, or people might think you’re reluctant to accept the award!”
His remark brought a wave of laughter from the audience, and Chery, embarrassed, managed a nervous smile, forgetting her poise before
the cameras.
Regaining her composure, Chery took a deep breath, and the host kindly added, “Our new queen of cinema is a bit overwhelmed, let’s give
her a moment!”
