Evelyn pulled Elowen aside and said, “Elowen! Alaric has always been a good friend of yours, how can you let Aurora take advantage of him? Don’t be fooled

Elowen looked at Evelyn with innocent eyes and asked, ‘What should I do then?”

“Hasn’t Alaric always harbored lingering feelings for you? If you were to fall ill now, he would drop everything to see you!” Evelyn encouraged.

When Alaric and Aurora arrived at the hospital, Aurora went to the ward while Alaric sought out Lysander. Lysander explained that Vespera’s gastritis was

“Alaric…” Vespera was surprised to see him.

Alaric nodded and said, “Since you’re okay, I’ll be leaving.”

Aurora said helplessly, “Alaric probably thinks you’re sick over that man, and he’s jealous.”

Vespera muttered, “Jealous of what?”

Aurora tapped Vespera’s forehead and said, ‘Don’t tell me you can’t see Alaric’s feelings for you. It’s clear to all of us.”

Vespera shook her head, ‘No, Alaric likes Elowen.”

“If he really liked Elowen, why did he leave her at the dinner and rush to the hospital as soon as he heard you were sick?” Aurora countered.

Vespera remained silent. After a while, Aurora said, ‘It’s getting late, let’s go to sleep. I’ll stay here with you.”

Vespera, who had been worried about being alone, fell asleep peacefully with Aurora there.

As soon as Alaric stepped out of the ward, his phone rang. It was Elowen, sounding weak, “Hello, my car crashed on the road… could you take me to the hospital?”

fainted.

Having already hit her head, Elowen first called Heath to report her accident. But before she could finish, Heath curtly interrupted, “Deal with the insurance company for accidents. You’re coherent enough to call an ambulance; I’m busy.” Then he hung up, clearly having lost his patience with Elowen since their

last altercation, eager to distance himself from her.

Left with no choice, Elowen called Alaric, and sure enough, he came without a second word.

Vespera had thought Alaric was angry with her the previous night for leaving without a word, but it turned out he was preoccupied with Elowen’s accident.

Vespera smiled bitterly, looked at Aurora, and asked, “Do you still think Alaric likes me?”

As Alaric and Elowen entered the elevator, he glanced at the two women, instinctively trying to pull away, but Elowen clung tightly to his arm.
