Me And My Billionaire Husband (Aurora and Heath) novel Chapter 270

Chapter 270

Aurora found the situation utterly bewildering, yet couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Her ridiculous father had abandoned his wife and daughter, only to find that two of the three children he’d painstakingly raised weren’t even his own.

Aurora couldn’t contain her laughter, but Heath wrapped her in his arms and said, Rory, you’re crying.

After a few seconds of silence, Aurora burst into tears. Kieran and Jay tactfully made their exit, leaving Aurora to sob uncontrollably in Heath’s embrace.

Her foolish mother, what kind of man had she married?

A man of hypocrisy, selfishness, and failure, while her mother, who appeared as graceful as a princess, had wasted her entire life on him.

Had anyone ever questioned Madeline’s past or the parentage of the three children, perhaps her mother wouldn’t have ended her days in

depression.

Heath held her, gently patting her back, and said, Rory, it’s all in the past now.

Sniffling, Aurora replied, Yes, it’s in the past.

What do you plan to do about them?Heath asked.

Aurora gathered the documents on the table but left them there, saying, I can’t do anything to them. Lysander said Grandfather can’t take any more shocks. I don’t want to hurt him.

Heath nodded in understanding, Let’s just leave these here then. You can take them back when you’re ready.

Aurora hugged Heath, saying, Thank you, Heath.

Heath stroked her hair and replied, Silly girl, what are you thanking me for?

Wiping away her tears, Aurora said, I need to go back. I promised Grandfather I’d return soon.

Heath nodded, Take care on your way.

Aurora picked up her bag, called for Jay, and left the grandeur behind, heading back to the Pendleton family villa.

Upon entering, she saw her grandfather stretching his neck on the sofa, looking out. His eyes squinted into a smile when he saw Aurora, making her heart ache. The old man had truly become an elderly, eagerly awaiting his grandchildren’s visits.

Aurora ran in with a smile, Grandpa, I’m back!

The old man nodded, Back? Itungry? Shall we eat?

As they headed to the dining room, Aurora vigorously nodded, Starving! Let’s eat!®

The old man was delighted, Good! Let’s have dinner!

Settling into his chair, he suddenly suggested, Aurora, why not invite Heath over for dinner tomorrow?

Aurora paused, then agreed, Okay, as Grandfather wishes.

She wasn’t ready to bind Heath with familial and clan pressures, nor to link herself with Heath too quickly, risking him harm. But when her grandfather, hunched over and smiling, discussed it with her, she couldn’t care less about the consequences.

At that moment, she just wanted to make her grandfather happy. As long as he was joyful and by her side every day, she was willing to do

anything.

After dinner, Aurora assisted her grandfather on a short walk outside. Exhausted, he went to bed early.

Heath sat behind his desk, rhythmically tapping his fingers against the surface as he inquired, How’s the investigation on Dominic Ashcroft and Olivia coming along?

Kieran replied with palpable excitement, You were spot on, boss! Dominic Ashcroft must have some underground forces at his command! The Abyss’s dealings aren’t all above board, but he’s managed to turn dangerous situations in his favor too many times. Eamon followed your instructions and found a lot of rumors in the U.S. Some say Ashcroft has tight connections with big shots from various sectors, others claim he has a private army, and there are whispers about him owning a military base.

Heath frowned, troubled by the findings. They had only scratched the surface, and much of it was unsubstantiated gossip, lacking any solid evidence. This only added to his frustration. With a cold expression, he demanded, Get Eamon to dig deeper! Whether Ashcroft commands mercenaries or spy assassins, I want concrete information!

Right away!Kieran hurried off to follow the order. Heath had almost halted all other tasks for Kieran, focusing solely on this investigation, hinting to Kieran that there must be something seriously concerning about Aurora for the boss to pursue this matter with such relentless dedication, sparing no expense in resources or manpower.

The next day, Grandpa had the chef prepare a sumptuous meal in anticipation of Heath’s dinner visit.

Aurora had personally called to invite Heath, who readily accepted the invitation.

Arriving at the villa just after four in the afternoon, Heath parked his car and was greeted by Aurora waiting for him at the entrance.

How come you’re out here?Heath asked as he approached.

Scratching her head, Aurora replied, Just came to meet you. Didn’t want to run into Madeline’s folks and cause a scene that might upset grandpa.

Heath chuckled, then said warmly, I understand. We’ll do whatever It takes to keep things calm for your grandpa.

As Aurora led Heath inside, she mentioned, Grandpa insisted on having you over for dinner. If he says anything off, don t take it to heat Just play along to keep him happy.

Raising an eyebrow, Heath asked, What kind of off things would he say?

Before Aurora could answer, Grandpa appeared, delighted to see Heath, Heath, you’re here early!

Heath nodded politely, Finished up early and didn’t want to keep you waiting.

Grandpa playfully scolded Aurora, Girl, why are you keeping Heath standing outside? Come in, come in!

With a smile, Aurora led Heath inside and went to cut some fruit for him. When she returned, Heath was already engaged in a game of

chess with her grandfather.

Placing the fruit on the table, Aurora sat down beside her grandfather to watch the game. Barely had she settled when her grandfather shooed her away, Go on, you don’t understand the game anyway, don’t bother us.

Pouting, Aurora protested, I’m just watching! I’ll understand it eventually.

Heath called her over, Come here, Rory.

She moved to sit by Heath, who briefly explained the rules to her, Your turn to play.

As Aurora placed a chess piece on the board, Grandpa exclaimed in concern, What are you doing?

Playing chess!Aurora stuck out her tongue playfully.

Grandpa worried for Heath, Heath, you’ll lose if she plays like that!

Heath smiled reassuringly, It’s okay. I couldn’t beat you anyway. Let Aurora have a bit of fun.

After placing a few pieces and feeling bored, Aurora grabbed some grapes, announcing, I’ll go check on the dishes.

Off you go!Grandpa dismissed her with mock disdain.

Aurora sneakily placed another chess piece on the board before running off, leaving behind the elder’s laughter and playful scolding, Naughty girl!

Heath played a few more rounds with Grandpa before admitting defeat, I’ve lost.

Grandpa expressed regret, If Aurora hadn’t interfered, you might not have lost!

Shaking his head, Heath replied, I would have lost anyway, sooner or later.

Hearing this, Grandpa laughed, appreciating Heath’s skill and sportsmanship. He had played chess for many years and knew Hear abilities were strong; ; without Aurora’s interruptions, Heath might have won. Yet, Heath didn’t mind losing, making both Aurora aruf

Grandpa happy.

Such magnanimity and spitit are rare in young people today.
