Me And My Billionaire Husband
Chapter 269
Upon hearing Evelyn’s tone, Aurora understood that Evelyn still cared deeply for Maxwell. Deciding not to intervene further, she ended the call and requested Jay to drive her to Lysander’s hospital.
Rushing to the hospital in urgency, she found her grandpa in the emergency room, with Leen and Little Fish anxiously waiting outside Aurora approached them, asking, “What happened? How did he faint all of a sudden?”
Leen, head hung low in guilt, replied, “He was just taking a stroll. He asked me to fetch him some coffee, and by the time I returned, he had already collapsed. It’s my fault. If I had stayed by his side without leaving, this wouldn’t have happened… Having served the old man for most of his life, Leen was overwhelmed with self–blame.
Aurora comforted him, “Don’t blame yourself. Grandpa will be alright.”
After a tense two–hour wait outside the emergency room, the lights finally turned off, and Lysander emerged, removing his mask. Meeting Aurora’s gaze, he sighed, “Come to my office with me.”
Aurora’s heart tightened at his expression. She instructed Leen and Little Fish to care for her grandfather in his ward before following Lysander to his office. As soon as they entered, she immediately asked, “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with grandfather’s
health?”
After washing his hands, Lysander revealed, “Your grandfather suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage. Although the surgery was successful, I cannot guarantee how long he can hold on.”
Aurora was stunned, “Cerebral hemorrhage? What do you mean? He was perfectly fine during his last health check–up!”
Lysander sighed, “He’s getting older, and naturally, his health issues will increase. This time we were timely in our response, and there’s no major issue, but if it happens again, it won’t be as easy.”
Panicked, Aurora asked, “Is there any other solution? Any medicine or surgery that can help?”
Lysander shook his head, “At his age, surgery isn’t a simple option. All you can do is take good care of him, keep his mind at ease, and prevent any extreme emotional fluctuations. He should have a couple more years.”
Exiting Lysander’s office, tears began to cascade down Aurora’s cheeks.
Her mind was buzzing. The vibrant image of her grandfather seemed like only yesterday’s memory, and now, suddenly, he was lying in the
emergency room.
And Lysander’s words implied the inevitable
her grandfather didn’t have much time left.
Indeed, it felt like an era had passed since she became Aurora Pendleton. Over three years, enough time for an elderly person to age significantly and health to decline. Why had she been so focused on revenge, assuming her grandfather would always be by her side?

Chapter 269
For the first time, she truly experienced heartache. The old man was stubborn and had a temper, calculating others for the benefit of the family, but in the end, he had provided her with a home and kinship.
He was her only family, her dear and helpless grandfather.
Aurora barely managed to dry her tears before entering the hospital room. The sight of her grandfather, frail and lying in bed with an oxygen mask, immediately overwhelmed her emotions, causing her tears to flow once again.
Seeing Aurora cry, Leen panicked and asked, “Miss Aurora, is Grandfather not doing well? What’s going on?”
Aurora took Leen and Little Fish outside the room and shared Dr. Lysander’s diagnosis, urging them to take meticulous care of the grandfather and to prevent anyone from disturbing him.
No sooner had she finished her instructions than Madeline arrived, shrieking at Aurora, “You little homewrecker! You caused my son’s accident, and now the grandfather is hospitalized too. You’re a curse!”
Leen quickly intervened, softly pleading with Madeline, “Madam, please, don’t disturb the grandfather. The doctor has advised quiet
rest…”
“Quiet rest? As long as this homewrecker leaves, the family will be trouble–free!” Madeline pointed at Aurora, accusing her.
Wiping away her tears, Aurora commanded, “Jay, remove her.”
Jay nodded, promptly escorting Madeline out. Madeline stumbled, nearly falling as she screamed, “Aurora! You’re nothing but a homewrecker! Don’t think you can hoard the shares. Get out of the Pendleton family!”
Exhausted in both body and spirit, Aurora had no energy to engage in a verbal spat. Watching Jay escort Madeline out, she returned to the hospital room to stay by her grandfather’s side.
Heath, upon hearing the news at the annual meeting, rushed over. Entering the room, he found Aurora, a small figure by the bed, comforting her grandfather, “Grandpa, please wake up. I miss you…”
Heath approached, enveloping Aurora in his arms, “Rory, you need to rest.”
Surprised to see Heath, Aurora wiped her tears, “How came you are here?”
Heath gently placed her on a nearby sofa, “I came as soon as I heard about your grandfather. How could you not tell me something this
serious?”
Aurora, head bowed, replied, “You were at the annual meeting. I didn’t want to interrupt your work.”
Holding her, Heath stroked her hair, “Your concerns are more important. I’ve talked to Lysander. With proper care, grandfather should be
fine.”
Aurora nodded, “I hope so. He’s always talking about seeing me get married and having children, wanting to hold his great–grandchildren.

He can he just lie there?
In Heath’s embrace, Aurma fenind a moment of warmth and safety, a rare comfort during these trying times,
After a while, Aurora suddenly remembered the matter concerning Maxwell, the got up, trok fleath out of the hospital room, and weed Could you ask Kieran to help me investigate Madeline’s past relationships, especially someone from over twenty years ago?
Heath frowned slightly, Why took into something from twenty years ago?
Aurora handed him a lab report from her pocket, explaining. Today, I found out that Maxwell’s blood type wems off. I suspect he might be Madeline’s illegitimate child with someone else. If we can’t find anything on her current lover, it might be because we’re looking in the wrong direction. I want Kieran to check into her past, including blood types.”
Heath took the lab report, assuring her, “Okay, leave it to me.”
Aurora nodded, managing a weak smile, “If grandpa pulls through this time, even if I find out the truth, I won’t cause a scene. It’s for grandfather’s sake.”
Heath gently caressed her face, leaning down to kiss her tear–stained eyes, “Don’t worry, everything will be alright. Grandpa wouldn’t want
to leave you.”
“Okay!” Aurora closed her eyes, her voice trembling with emotion. She was genuinely scared, fearing that her grandfather might never wake up, leaving her without the chance to say goodbye.
