“What’s frightening you?‘ Heath inquired gently.

“It’s Grandpa… He’s always talking about his will and though he does it quietly with Leen, I know. He thinks he hasn’t got much time left. He can’t even sleep peacefully. I… I just wish he could see me get married, have children. It feels like only with his blessing, my life would be complete, Aurora confided, nestled in Heath’s embrace.

Heath wrapped his arms around her, offering solace. “Don’t worry, Lysander said he’ll be fine with proper care. He’ll see you marry, have

Aurora nodded vigorously in his arms, finding solace only in Heath’s assurances, believing firmly that Grandpa would be alright.

After spending much of the day together, it was not until Heath got into his car and drove away that Aurora returned to her room, watching his car disappear into the distance.

Upon his return, Heath immediately summoned Kieran, handed him a photograph of Callista, and instructed, “This is Aurora’s mother, Callista. Take this picture and find out everything about Callista’s background.”

Kieran nodded, ready to leave, when Heath added, “And have Lysander come over; I need to speak with him.”

Kieran agreed and stepped out to call Lysander.

Within minutes, Lysander arrived, his presence marked by flashy gold–rimmed glasses and a shirt unbuttoned at the top. He slouched in front of Heath, asking, “Why the late summon?”

Heath raised an eyebrow, “Did I interrupt something important at the hospital?”

Heath, rubbing his temples, questioned, “How long does Aurora’s grandfather have, in your opinion?”
