Chapter 298
When Aurora awoke, she found herself confined to a dim cell, its darkness unrelieved by any window or light. Eamon had taken her captive, yet he had refrained from inflicting pain, instead ensuring she received sustenance through IV fluids and three daily meals, her primary constraint being the handcuffs encircling her wrists.
Aurora huddled in the cell’s shadows, losing track of time. She had no appetite, the thought of food repugnant until she could lay eyes on Heath once more.
Upon his arrival for an interrogation, Eamon discovered Aurora lying on the cot, her gaze fixed on the ceiling. He settled into a chair and inquired, “Should I address you as Aurora or Olivia?”
Aurora maintained her silent vigil, eyes still on the ceiling.
With a sigh, Eamon pressed, ‘I’ve not resorted to torture. I harbor no desire to harm women. What I seek to understand is your unwavering loyalty to Heath. Why do you remain by his side?”
Drawing her knees to her chest, Aurora met Eamon’s gaze. “If I divulge, may I see Lysander?”
Eamon gave a nod of assent.
Aurora’s smile was one of pure, childlike delight. ‘Love binds me to him. That is the reason I stay.”
Eamon’s brow furrowed. “You are Olivia, I suspect. Though I lack definitive proof, I am certain you are not the heiress of the Pendletons.”
With a tilt of her head, Aurora replied, “I would prefer to share this news with Heath first, allowing him to inform you. Would that be acceptable?”
As Eamon rose and approached the door, he posed another question. “Did your hand fell Luca?”
Aurora’s nod was accompanied by a smile. “I was the sniper. I also took the shot at the coastal warehouse.”
This confession seemed to clarify many of Eamon’s doubts. After a moment of contemplation, he stated, “I’ll have Lysander brought to you.”
Aurora’s response was gentle, tender, a stark contrast to the ruthless image painted by Rudi’s men.
Aurora remained in the bed for a few minutes until the door reopened, and Lysander stepped inside, his concern evident. “Aurora, are you alright?”
Peering past him, Aurora inquired, ‘Is it sunny outside?”
Understanding her limited view, Lysander affirmed, “Indeed, the weather is pleasant.”
Her eyes squinted in a smile as she queried, “And Heath, how fares he?”
Lysander’s own smile was reassuring. “Fear not, Heath is in good health. His injuries, though serious, were not fatal. He should regain consciousness within a couple of days.”
Aurora’s sigh of relief was audible. “That is comforting to hear.”
“Aurora, are you indeed Olivia?” Lysander hesitated before posing the question.
With a smile and a downward glance, Aurora responded, “I wish to speak with Heath first.”

Lysander nodded, understanding her need for privacy.
He reflected on Aurora’s unique character. Despite being a skilled assassin, adept at disguise and taking lives, she had shown a vulnerability in her desperation to save Heath when he was endangered. Now, with Heath out of danger, Aurora had returned to a more serene state, showing no animosity towards her confinement by Eamon, appearing once again harmless.
After Lysander’s departure, the cell was once again enveloped in darkness and silence. Aurora waited, and when the door opened once more, a figure slipped inside, taking a seat and proposing, “Shall we make our exit?‘
Aurora, her fingers absently tracing patterns on the bed, replied, Carly, I have yet to witness his recovery.”
Carly’s sigh was heavy with concern. “Aurora, what if Eamon decides to end your life if we delay further?”
Aurora’s smile was serene. ‘I wish to see him again. I have no desire to flee.”
“Once we’ve escaped, there will be ample opportunities to reunite with him in the future. Please, let’s go now,” Carly implored.
They had been monitoring the situation since the plane’s landing, finally zeroing in on Aurora’s location. Now, everything was in place, awaiting the
opportune moment to extract Aurora.
