Chapter 43
Aurora gasped, “Heath?”

Heath reached for the light switch on the wall. With a “click,” the small storage room was illuminated. He was dressed in a light gray suit, no tie, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his attractive collarbone.
Heath had one leg over Aurora, one hand gripping her slender wrist above her head against the wall. His other hand lifted her delicate chin, his eyes probing into hers.
This position was, no matter how you looked at it, utterly embarrassing.
Aurora shifted her head uncomfortably and said, “Let go of me.”
Heath didn’t move. “Who taught you those moves?”
Aurora sighed, “Self-taught. There are plenty of fighting classes out there. 200 a lesson, not expensive.”
Heath chuckled. Did she think he was that easy to fool?
The training classes out there were all show, no substance. Aurora’s moves were deadly and incredibly fast, almost instinctual.
She was a puzzle-her personality, her actions, her financial dealings, her skills-all enigmatic.
Heath wasn’t in a rush. Even if he pressed her, she wouldn’t tell him the truth. Instead of watching her lie, he enjoyed this cat-and-mouse
game more.
“Heath, let go of me,” Aurora said.
“And if I don’t, what will you do?” Heath moved closer, his hand resting on her waist. She was even more slender now, her waistline soft and delicate.
His cold breath fanned her ear, but his warm hand on her waist was uncomfortably hot. Had this man gone mad?
“Scoundrel!” Aurora exclaimed.
Aurora, you’re really bold, Heath said.
I know, I’ve always been bold,” Aurora shot him a sidelong glance.
“So bold that you dare to owe me money and seduce other men?” Heath’s eyes narrowed, coldly staring at her.
Aurora knew without him saying it; this man was unhappy again.
“Who did I seduce?” Aurora looked genuinely confused.
What did it matter to him even if she did?
“Heh, are all you Pendletons such drama queens?” Heath sneered.

Chapter 43
:
One moment she’s in the restroom claiming she’ll steal Ethan away, and the next she’s playing innocent in front of him? Heath must be insane to have worried about her getting into trouble with Sophia in the restroom.
‘Don’t compare me to the Pendletons, it’s disgusting,” Aurora frowned.
‘Do you like Ethan? Heath asked.
Aurora blinked her beautiful eyes, realizing Heath had overheard her conversation with Sophia.
“Let go of me first, then we’ll talk,” Aurora looked away, uncomfortable. His eyes were like dark whirlpools, easy to get lost in.
Heath let go. Aurora straightened her dress and hair, rubbed her wrist, and kept her head down.
Heath gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him, “Do you like Ethan?”
His eyes were dangerously probing. If she said the wrong thing, who knows what he’d do.
Aurora sighed, “No, I just wanted to piss off Sophia.”
Heath chuckled, visibly relieved, “Don’t go around stealing men, Miss Aurora.”
“I was just saying it,” Aurora shook off Heath’s hand, rubbing her sore wrist.
He had clearly been angry; his grip had been strong enough to redden her wrist.
“You also slapped her?” Heath asked.
“Yeah, wanna try getting slapped by me?” Aurora shot him a glance, clearly annoyed.
“Little lioness,” Heath said.
“What?” Aurora didn’t catch that.
Heath looked her up and down, “Your dress fits well.”
“Of course, my grandpa gave it to me,” Aurora said proudly.
Heath chuckled again, “You said you’d treat me to dinner last time.”
“Nope, go eat by yourself!” Aurora flung his hand away, lifted her dress, and opened the door. Kieran was waiting outside and greeted her with a smile, ‘Miss Aurora,”
Ignoring Heath behind her, Aurora headed for the banquet hall.
Sophia came out of the restroom, her face red and swollen, and ran to find Madeline. She didn’t care about face or reputation; she just wanted Aurora dead!
Sophia couldn’t find Madeline after searching. Angrily, she grabbed a servant, “Where’s my mom?”

Sophia rushed upstairs, barging into the room without knocking. It was empty, but she could hear Madeline and Mrs. Song talking in the walk-in closet. Sophia saw Madeline’s purse on the sofa, tiptoed over, and opened it.
