A knock suddenly came from outside the door. Little Fish asked, “Miss Aurora, are you in there? Your grandpa wants to know if Mr.

Fairbank has left yet.”

Heath rubbed his temples and opened the door. “No, he hasn’t.”

Little Fish: “Uh… Hello, Mr.Fairbank.”

The door closed again. Aurora sniffled and hopped out of Heath’s arms.

Feeling a bit empty and somewhat disappointed, he still put on a tsundere face. “We’ve been hugging for ten minutes. Regretting it now would be a bit late, don’t you think?”

Aurora, wiping her tears, stuttered, “I never… never asked you to hug me.”

Heath wiped the corner of her eyes and asked, “Done crying?”

Aurora looked down. “Mhm…”

Heath led her into the bathroom and turned on the faucet. “Wash your face. If we don’t go down soon, your grandpa might think I’m up to no good.”

Aurora glared at him with red eyes, washed her face, and as she was drying it, Heath said, “I have a flight to X City at 1 PM.”

Her face buried in the towel, Aurora mumbled, “Got it.”

“Join me for lunch.” It wasn’t a question; it was a statement.

“Okay,” Aurora said, looking down.

Heath chuckled softly. The girl he chose was just as tsundere as he was.

He ruffled her hair and said, “Change your clothes; I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

After the door closed, Aurora tossed the towel aside and flopped onto the bed. She turned her face to look at a pillow on the floor and secretly smiled.

Was she the first person to ever dare lay a hand on him?

Aurora got off the bed, changed into a white dress with a khaki trench coat, and styled her wavy hair that fell softly down her back.

She looked in the mirror; her eyes were still a bit red. She sat down, applied some light makeup, and then picked up her bag to go downstairs.

Heath saw her coming down and smiled as she approached. “Let’s go.”

Aurora looked around. “Where’s Grandpa?”

“He said he was tired and went to rest,” Heath recalled the old man’s cheerful expression as he spoke.

Aurora followed Heath out the door, where a Rolls Royce was parked. Kieran opened the car door with a smile, “Miss Aurora, long time no

see.

Aurora smiled and climbed into the back seat.

Heath, looking tired, sat down and closed his eyes. “What do you feel like eating?”

“Meat, Aurora answered without hesitation.

Heath opened his eyes to look at her. “Give me your arm.”

Confused, Aurora extended her arm to him.

Heath examined the fading bruise from her recent fall. Satisfied, he put her arm down, crossed his hands on his lap, and closed his eyes.

“Kieran, take us to a hot pot restaurant,” Heath instructed.

“Sure thing!” Kieran thought, ‘Ah, they’ve made up. Otherwise, would Miss Aurora even step out?‘

Heath rested his eyes while Aurora, feeling bored, chatted with Kieran.

“Is the capital fun?” she asked.

“It’s okay, not as scenic as Seaview,” he replied.

“Is it super cold in the winter?”

“It’s manageable once you get used to it.”

“Why do you keep saying ‘it’s okay‘?”

Kieran stayed silent, thinking, ‘If I say it’s super cold, you might not come to the capital. And if you don’t, the boss will probably send me to Africa.

They arrived at the hot pot restaurant. Kieran parked the car and disappeared, probably to find his own meal.

Heath led Aurora into a private room and ordered a table full of meat. Aurora held a cup of hot water, carefully blowing on it before taking a sip.

As the steam rose, she puckered her lips and blew gently on the cup in her hands, cautiously taking a sip as if she’d stolen a mouthful of wine, savoring it with satisfaction.

Heath remembered the fleeting kiss they’d shared in the room earlier. Her lips were soft, and there was a faint scent of rice porridge between them. That brief moment had left him wanting more.

He leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, saying nothing.

Aurora looked at him and asked, “Will you tell Grandpa?”

“About what?” Heath opened his eyes.

“Will you tell him I borrowed money from you?”

‘Depends, Heath closed his eyes again.

Aurora pouted. So, he’s got leverage over her now. If he’s ever unhappy, he can use this against her.

“What are you doing in X City?” she asked.

“Inspecting a subsidiary,” he replied, eyes still closed.

“Why did you come to Seaview then?” she continued.

Heath opened his eyes after a long silence. “Aurora, you’re smart. Figure it out.”

She sighed in relief; it wasn’t the answer she’d feared. For a moment, she thought he’d confess his feelings like Dominic Ashcroft had, straightforwardly and without any disguise. But she wasn’t ready for that.

Not yet. She still had scores to settle, hatred to purge from her heart.

“Good, you figure it out,” he’d said.

The food arrived, and Aurora happily dug into the hot pot.

Heath didn’t eat much, spending most of the time picking food for her.

After the meal, it was already noon. “Should we head to the airport?” she asked.

“Do you want to see me off?” Heath smiled.

“Either way,” she shifted uncomfortably.

Heath paid the bill and led her to the car.

Kieran was already waiting. “Sir, are we going to the airport?”

“Take Aurora home first, Heath instructed.

Aurora was puzzled. “You don’t want me to see you off?”

Heath smiled and patted her head. I’d feel better if you’re home first.”

Her cheeks flushed. “What are you waiting for, Kieran? Drive!”

Kieran chuckled. So, the fierce Miss Aurora could blush too?

They arrived at the Pendleton residence. Heath walked her to the door. “Remember to take your medication.”

“Did Lysander tell you I was sick?” she asked.

Yes. Next time, don’t hold back. If anything happens, I’ll take the blame,” he assured her.

Aurora grinned, “So if I kill Sophia Pendleton, you’ll cover for me?”

“As long as you’re okay,” he looked at her seriously.

Her cheeks turned even redder, and she looked down, saying nothing.

“I’ll be busy and might not be able to visit you,” he added.

“I get it. You can… call,” she hesitated.

Heath chuckled. “I heard you’re planning to go to the University in the capital?”

She snorted, “What, you don’t think I can?”

Heath moved closer, gently hugged her shoulders. She stiffened but didn’t push him away.

His soothing voice came from above, “Aurora, I’ll be waiting for you in the capital.”

She mumbled an acknowledgment, tugged at his clothes, and said, “You should go. Don’t miss your flight.”

Heath let her go and got into the car.
