Chapter 87
:
As the votes kept rolling in, the top three contestants were finally decided.
First place went to Xander, second to Yorick, and third to Daxton.
The rest were unfortunately left in the dust.
The director from Skyline Media was quick to sign Xander, while Harmony Media snagged Yorick.
What shocked everyone was when Daxton suddenly stepped forward, announcing his withdrawal from the competition. Silas Song, who was in fourth place, took his spot and made his debut.
Not just the hosts and the audience were stunned, but even people watching the live stream in the mall were frozen in disbelief.
Aurora turned to Vespera and asked, “What’s the deal with this Daxton guy? Quitting out of nowhere, isn’t he afraid of getting blacklisted?”

Vespera rolled her eyes and said, “Silas Song is from the Song family. It’s not surprising he’d pull some strings to get into the top three.”
“The Song family?” Aurora wasn’t sure if the Song family in the capital was related to the one in Seaview.
“Yeah, they’re big shots in the capital. If they have a precious son who wants to break into the entertainment industry, they’re gonna pull some strings,” Vespera added.
Aurora looked at the screen. Daxton stood in the background, his eyes vacant as he watched the crowd cheer. That was definitely not the face of someone willingly bowing out.
Her gut told her there was something big to dig into here.
After a day of shopping, Aurora and Vespera decided to grab some food at a restaurant. Vespera barely touched her meal, prompting Aurora to say, ‘You’re already so skinny, eat up.”
Vespera shook her head, ‘I can’t eat anymore.”
Just as Aurora was about to say something else, her phone buzzed. The caller ID showed Heath Fairbank. “Hello?”
“Where are you?” Heath asked,
“Out having dinner with Vespera,” Aurora replied, Vespera looked up when she heard her name, and Aurora gave her a reassuring smile.
“When will you be back?” Heath pressed.
“Umm, not sure. After dinner, I guess?” Aurora looked at Vespera for confirmation, who nodded in agreement.
“Alright, we’ll head back after we finish eating,” Aurora said.

Chapter 87
…
“Which restaurant? I’ll send Kieran to pick you up,” Heath offered.
“I can just take a cab,” Aurora countered.
“Aurora, which restaurant?” Heath’s tone left no room for debate.
“Fine, wait for me at the mall entrance. I’ll be down after we finish eating,” Aurora conceded.
After hanging up, Aurora put away her phone. Vespera glanced at her, “Boyfriend?”
Aurora hesitated before shaking her head, “No, not my boyfriend.”
“So, an admirer then? He seems pretty concerned about you,” Vespera pointed out.
Aurora blushed, “Yeah, I guess Heath does care.”

After dinner, the two made their way to the mall entrance where Kieran was already waiting. Aurora pulled Vespera into the car, “Where do you live? We’ll drop you off first.”
Vespera hesitated before giving her address. When they arrived, Aurora was surprised, “The Thornfield family in the capital?”
The Thornfields were also a wealthy family, which explained why Vespera knew so much about the intricate relationships among the elite, even in the entertainment industry. Yet, Vespera didn’t seem like a pampered heiress; she seemed like she’d been through some stuff.
Vespera nodded awkwardly, “Aurora, will you be mad at me?”
“For what?” Aurora was puzzled.
“For not telling you about my background sooner,” Vespera looked down.
Aurora laughed, “Why would that matter? I like you for who you are, not your family.”
Vespera gripped Aurora’s hand, “Aurora, the truth is… I’m not really a Thornfield. But I’ll tell you everything later!”
Aurora sensed that the Thornfield family was complicated, which was probably why Vespera had been so vague about her identity. “I like you for you, Vespera. Don’t overthink it.”
Vespera looked up, her eyes filled with gratitude. To her, Aurora was her best friend.
After dropping Vespera off, Kieran drove Aurora back to her place and also delivered some company documents to Heath Fairbank.
Heath glanced at her, “Come here.”
Aurora plopped down on the sofa, and Heath reached over to stroke her smooth hair.

Chapter 87
:
Annoyed, Aurora shook her head, “Heath, I’m not your pet!”
Heath chuckled, “You’re a little lion.”
55
“A lion? What are you talking about?” Aurora was puzzled.
Before Heath could elaborate, Aurora asked, “Do you know Silas Song? The young heir of the Song family in the capital?”
Heath frowned, seemingly hitting a blind spot. Kieran quickly filled in, “He’s the younger son of the Song family in the capital, related to the Songs in Seaview. Technically, he’s Ethan Song’s cousin.”
Aurora grinned, “So they are related?”
“What’s going on?” Heath’s brows furrowed at the mention of another man’s name.
“He participated in that ‘Chosen Son‘ talent show. Seems like he used some underhanded methods to push out the guy who was ahead of him,” Aurora explained.
Kieran chimed in, “Miss Aurora, Silas Song is known for being a spoiled brat in the capital’s elite circle. It’s not surprising he’d resort to dirty tricks.”
“But why hasn’t anyone signed him or Daxton, the guy he pushed out?” Aurora questioned.
Kieran handed her a file, “Evelyn Media, a subsidiary of the Pendleton family, is opening in the capital. Besides Evelyn as the boss, the first artist they’ve signed is Sophia, and the second is Silas Song.”
“Evelyn signed Silas Song?” Aurora was stunned, then laughed, “Is she set on becoming in–laws with the Song family?”
Aurora flipped through the file, realizing she was out of the loop in her own family’s affairs. She looked up and smiled, “Thanks, Kieran.”
Kieran nodded, “You’re welcome, Miss Aurora. The boss had me prepare all this.”
Heath asked, “Aren’t you going to thank me?”
Aurora didn’t even look up, “Nope!”
She knew Heath always wanted something more tangible as thanks,
Aurora continued to browse the file, “Can we find this Daxton?”
“We can,‘ Kieran confirmed.
“Do you want to get involved?” Heath asked.
Aurora smirked like a cunning fox, “Anything related to the Pendletons, I want in.”
Heath looked into her twinkling eyes but spoke to Kieran, “Find the information and give it to Aurora tomorrow.”
Kieran nodded in agreement.
