Chapter 88

Aurora was comfortably sprawled on the sofa, her head tilted as she looked at Heath. “So, let me get this straight. If I decided to go on a killing spree, you’d have Kieran prepare a dagger for me, wouldn’t you?”
Heath shook his head, his expression unchanging. “No, I wouldn’t.”
Aurora’s lips curled into a smirk, ready to retort, but Heath cut her off. “I wouldn’t need him for that. I’d hand you the dagger myself.”
Aurora’s face flushed a deep shade of red. She sprang up from the sofa, hastily grabbed a stack of files, and retreated to her room like she was fleeing the scene.
Kieran, who had been standing off to the side, felt like he was exuding the lonely aura of a single guy. Meanwhile, the living room seemed to fill with the nauseating smell of his boss’s love life.
Heath glanced at him, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Is there anything else?”
Kieran hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Boss, Miss Aurora has been getting quite close to a certain Miss Thornfield from the Thornfield family. Should we perhaps warn her? The Thornfield family is… complicated, to say the least.”
“No need,” Heath responded curtly.
“But sir, are you sure? Because-” Kieran tried to argue.
“No need. Aurora can be friends with whoever she wants. Just make sure she’s under tight surveillance. Keep her safe, that’s all,” Heath interrupted, his voice leaving no room for further discussion.
Kieran sighed, feeling helpless. He reached for his phone to contact the security team.
Just as he was about to leave, Heath seemed to remember something. “How’s the investigation into Olivia coming along?”
At that exact moment, Aurora emerged from her room to get a glass of water. Hearing Heath’s question, she fumbled, spilling the water all over her feet. The hot water made her yelp in pain.
Heath immediately rushed over to her, scooped her up in his arms, and carried her to the bathroom. He ran cold water over her feet for a full ten minutes before applying some medicinal ointment. Fortunately, her skin was only reddened, with no blisters forming.
He then carried her back to the sofa, poured her a fresh glass of water, and was about to stand up to resume his conversation with Kieran.
Feeling cornered, Aurora had no choice but to grab onto Heath’s leg as he was about to walk away. She looked up at him with pitiful eyes. ‘My foot… it hurts so much…”
Her eyes were moist, making her look like a mistreated kitten–utterly pitiable, yet irresistibly cute,
Something in Heath’s heart softened. He turned his head and called out, “Kieran, come here.”
Kieran walked over and glanced at Aurora’s reddened foot. “Sir, should I call Dr. Fane to come and take a look?”
Heath shot him a disdainful look, grabbed a throw blanket from the back of the sofa, and gently covered Aurora’s feet. “Yes, call him.”

Chapter 88
Kieran dialed Lysander Fane’s number and then continued, “Since we discovered that Olivia was present at the internet café where Miss Aurora had her incident, she’s vanished without a trace. We don’t even know her gender, making the investigation exceedingly difficult.”
Aurora was stunned into silence. “So, I’ve got this big reputation internationally, and these people can’t even figure out if I’m male or
female?”
Impulsively, she blurted out, “Of course she’s a woman!”
Both Heath and Kieran turned to look at her, their expressions filled with bewilderment. Aurora laughed awkwardly, trying to cover her slip. “I mean, the name Olivia… just sounds like a woman’s name, doesn’t it?”
Heath sighed, clearly exasperated. He turned back to Kieran. “Continue the investigation. Go through every international mission that might have any connection to Olivia. I want to know everything.”
