Aurora gently tugged at the corner of Heath’s shirt, her voice tinged with hesitation. “Um… about that sweet and sour fish I wanted to buy… I haven’t gotten it yet.”
Heath glanced at Kieran through the rearview mirror, his eyes narrowing for a moment. “It’s fine. We can pick it up later. The hospital comes first.
Kieran felt like crying but had no tears to shed. How could he have anticipated that the moment Miss Aurora stepped out, they’d bump into a member of the Fairbank family?
When they arrived at Fairview Medical Center, Heath didn’t waste any time. Carrying Aurora in his arms, he headed straight for the Dean’s office. As they neared the door, they heard the soft rustling of papers from inside. Aurora’s cheeks flushed a rosy hue, and she buried her face deeper into Heath’s chest.
Heath let out a resigned sigh. “Kieran, knock on the door, will you?”
Kieran complied, pounding on the door with a force that betrayed his frustration. A voice from inside, clearly irritated, barked out, “Get
lost!”
Kieran raised his voice, “Dr. Fane, you might want to open up. My boss is standing right outside.”
A minute later, the door creaked open. A woman with a fiery figure and a displeased expression shot Kieran a disdainful look before sashaying out of the office.
Lysander, his face a stormy cloud, questioned, “What’s the matter this time?”
Heath offered a wry smile. “You sure got here fast.”
Lysander’s expression darkened even more. He glanced at Aurora, who was still nestled in Heath’s arms. “Injured again, I see?”
Gently placing her on a chair, Heath responded, “Just a minor scrape on her hand. Needs to be bandaged.”
Lysander couldn’t help but grumble, “Am I just a nursemaid in your eyes?”
Heath shook his head, dismissing the notion. “No, you’re not.”
He then added, “People who can’t take care of themselves need a nursemaid. Aurora isn’t one of them.”
Lysander shot back, “She’s not far off, you know. Aren’t you tired of carrying her around all day?”
Heath arched an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips. “She’s light as a feather. I’m not tired.”
Lysander was left speechless, internally debating whether he should just spit in Heath’s face out of sheer frustration.
Switching gears, Lysander disinfected Aurora’s hand with meticulous care before wrapping it in a bandage. “How do you manage to get injured every single day?”
Aurora pondered for a moment before replying, “Life’s just full of trials and tribulations, you know?”

She then looked up at Heath, her eyes hopeful. “So, are we still going to buy that sweet and sour fish?”
Heath nodded affirmatively. “Yes, we are.”

Lysander’s mood soured again. “Why? I want to go too!”
Kieran quickly grabbed Lysander by the arm. “Trust me, you don’t want to go.”
Lysander could only let out a resigned sigh.
Heath lifted Aurora into his arms once more and left the office, not even sparing a backward glance.
In the end, they didn’t buy the sweet and sour fish. Instead, Heath took her to a restaurant called Drunken Fairy and treated her to a lavish meal.
As she sat there, Aurora couldn’t help but think, ‘Heath must not be mad at me anymore, right?‘
Heath broke the silence, his voice tinged with concern. “Why didn’t you eat breakfast?”
Aurora fiddled with some fish bones on her plate, her eyes downcast. “I just wasn’t hungry this morning.”
Heath pressed on, “Why were you crying last night?”
Before Aurora could formulate a response, Heath interjected, “If you’re going to lie, just save it.”
Aurora remained silent, her head bowed. She was at a loss for words. Should she tell Heath that she had actually met him two years ago?
Or that she didn’t want to have dinner with Eamon Ironside? Or should she reveal her true identity as Olivia?
How could she possibly explain?
‘Heath, I was dead, but now I’m alive again?‘
Would Heath think she had lost her mind?
Or perhaps, the person Heath was truly enamored with was this cheerful, lively girl, not the cold–blooded killer she used to be?
She didn’t know. Her thoughts were a chaotic mess.
She didn’t know what to say or how to say it, so she chose to remain silent.
After what felt like an eternity, Heath finally broke the silence. “I’ll wait for you.”
“Hm?” Aurora looked up, her eyes meeting his.
Heath looked deeply into her eyes. “You have many secrets. If you’re not ready to share them, that’s okay. I can wait.”
Aurora saw her own reflection in his eyes, clear as a tranquil lake.
Then, her tears fell, each droplet splashing onto the back of her hand like a heavy weight on her heart.

Heath spoke softly, “As long as you promise not to lie to me, I can wait until you’re ready to tell the truth.”
Aurora looked into his eyes, as if spellbound, and said, “I promise.”
She vowed to stop lying and to stop hiding.
She vowed that one day she would reveal the truth, regardless of how Heath might perceive her then.
Heath smiled warmly and gently wiped away her tears. “You crybaby, let’s eat.”
Aurora let out a small, silly laugh and lowered her head to continue eating.

In the afternoon, after Heath had dropped her off, he spent the entire time in his study, engrossed in work. Aurora, having nothing better to do, started going through the information that Kieran had gathered on Daxton.
Daxton came from a modest background. His father had passed away when he was young, and his mother was in poor health, frequently in and out of the hospital. They were barely scraping by each month.
Daxton was handsome and had a good singing voice. He could’ve signed with a talent agency after the talent show, which would have significantly improved his family’s financial situation. But he chose to withdraw from the competition.
According to Kieran’s findings, Daxton’s mother’s small roadside stall had been vandalized on the day of the finals. Similar incidents had occurred before, and the person behind it all was Silas Song.
Aurora was pissed off. Not just at her sisters but also at this Silas. She felt compelled to intervene in this situation.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Aurora got up to answer it.
As she opened the door, she found herself locking eyes with the person on the other side. For a moment, both of them just stood there, frozen in place.
