Isabella's eyes widened in shock.
She understood in an instant. Serena had known from the very beginning that she had drugged the toast!
Serena had discovered it long ago!
But Serena had deliberately used her parents to force her to eat that breakfast herself!
Serena had set a trap from the start, waiting for Isabella to walk right into it!
That hick was just too vicious!
Serena knew what Isabella was thinking just by looking at her expression.
It was clear that Isabella didn't think this was her fault at all.
She had put a powerful laxative in both the toast and the fried egg, and had likely increased the dosage, hoping to give Serena diarrhea until she collapsed from dehydration.
With a dose like that, she would be stuck on the toilet for at least three days.
Even getting her stomach pumped at the hospital wouldn't do much good.
Isabella was about to go through hell.
Of course, she had to endure the laxative she'd prepared herself.
Serena lifted her gaze, shot a sideways glance at Isabella, and curved her lips into a smirk. Without another word, she turned and walked away.
"You…"
Isabella’s vision swam with rage. She lunged forward, wanting to stop Serena from seeing Nicholas Blackwood.
But she had barely taken a single step.
A churning, agonizing pain suddenly ripped through her.
Her insides felt like they were being twisted into knots, and the pain drained all the color from her face.
A powerful sensation rushed downwards…
Isabella immediately clutched her stomach and clamped her legs together.
"Isabella," Catherine said with a frown after Serena had left. "What did Serena mean just now? What was that about you provoking Brianna into having an attack? Are you responsible for Brianna’s heart condition?"
A sweet and lovely-looking girl was propped up against the headboard, idly poking at the apple with a toothpick, her long lashes drooping. She seemed listless.
But judging by her complexion, Serena knew that after a night of recovery and taking the heart-stabilizing pill she had given her, the girl had made a full recovery.
Her current lack of energy was probably just boredom from being cooped up in the hospital for too long.
Upon hearing the noise, the girl's head snapped up. When she saw Serena, her bright, clear eyes lit up instantly. "Serena!"
She excitedly threw off the covers, about to get out of bed. "Serena, you really came!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Easy there, you little menace, don't move! You've got all these tubes hooked up to you. If one of them comes loose, you'll be stuck in here even longer!" Nathan quickly put down the fruit knife and held the girl down.
The girl pushed at him forcefully. "What's there to be afraid of when Serena is here?!"
Nathan retorted, "Miss Lancaster can't pull you back from death's door every single time! Just stay put, if only to make things easier for her!"
The girl instantly quieted down.
She ignored Nathan and, blinking her sparkling eyes, gave Serena a sweet smile. "Serena, I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Brianna. Thank you for saving my neck, again and again!"
