Her face went pale with fear, and she flinched, burying her head in Logan’s chest.
She was clearly terrified.
Patrick’s brow tightened as he watched Hailey, who only knew how to cling to her brothers, looking so meek and unpresentable.
He couldn’t help but compare her to the Serena he had seen last night.
“Dad, you’re scaring Hailey!” Logan said, protectively holding his sister. He frowned, his tone reproachful. “And you were too rough with Mom! How could you do that to her? Look at what you did to her face!”
Patrick felt the heavy, burning pain in his head grow even worse.
His temples throbbed relentlessly.
Looking at Logan—who was nothing but a troublemaker, utterly clueless, and devoid of any sense of responsibility—only made him more irritated.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and said in a hoarse, angry voice, “You idiot! Do you think those rich kids play nice? If I hadn’t done that, if I hadn’t thrown your foolish mother out there, they would have already crippled us and tossed us into the sea to feed the fish!”
“If anyone’s to blame, it’s your stupid mother! In that kind of situation, she just had to get the last word in. Wasn’t that just asking for those heirs to make an example of her?”
The more Patrick spoke, the more his head ached.
“Well… it’s not our fault either,” Logan mumbled, taken aback but still defiant. He stuck his neck out stubbornly. “It’s all that bitch Serena’s fault! Using her looks to seduce men and then egging them on…”
“Shut up!” Patrick shot him a cold glare and barked out the order.
