Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1014

Cole patiently explained, "This is your granddad's house. I used to live here too, back in the day. Bennett really doted on me when I was young. He's not keeping tabs on you; he just wants to see my kids. Sandi, you can't be so headstrong."

Makiko jumped in to calm things down, "Sandi, don't be rude. We'll stay for a bit and keep your granddad company. If you decide you want to move out later, we can always look into getting a new place."

Cole nodded, "How about playing a game of chess with your granddad later? You're pretty good at it, aren't you?"

Sandi agreed, though not too enthusiastically.

Wilder leaned over and whispered, "Sandi, no attitude, alright? Be patient."

Sandi nodded quietly, keeping her thoughts to herself.

Just then, Cole's phone rang. He listened closely, not saying a word.

After what seemed like a long pause, he finally hung up, looking troubled.

Curious, Sandi asked, "Dad, what's up?"

"Your uncle's youngest son got himself thrown in jail, his daughter passed away, and his second wife has also died," Cole said, his voice heavy with the news.

The others were left in shock.

"How could this happen?" Wilder asked.

"I heard they messed up somehow, but I don't know the details. Oliver probably knows what's going on, and so does your uncle. After dinner, we'll head over and see him."

...

Rowan was busy in the greenhouse, trimming plants, when he heard Cole's family had arrived. He quickly made his way out to greet them.

Cole looked around Rowan's place, noting it hadn't changed much over the years.

"Dorian, being here feels like coming home. I should've come back sooner."

Rowan settled in as a servant brought over some tea.
