Josefina felt the curious eyes of her family on her as she eased back into her chair. "Alright, folks, don't get carried away. A nine-month journey doesn't happen overnight," she teased, hoping to lighten the mood.
Everyone quickly looked away, pretending they hadn't been speculating just moments ago. Hattie jumped in to rescue her, "Come on, give Josie some breathing room. It's not good to crowd around a mom-to-be like this."
Her three brothers reluctantly backed off, with Hattie giving Garrett a playful nudge to get him moving. Grandpa Robert and Emily watched the lively family scene unfold with warm smiles. The old couple exchanged a look, clearly cherishing the vibrant life around them.
Oliver reached into his bag and pulled out some gifts. Josefina explained, "These are the latest products from my company. I brought them home to get your opinions."
Everyone received a gift, making sure both the Baldwin and Harrison families were included—couldn’t have anyone feeling left out. The family dove into a lively conversation, laughter and opinions bouncing around the room.
Standing behind Josefina, Oliver watched her serene face, feeling a wave of contentment. After a while, as Josefina gathered everyone's thoughts, she let out a yawn.
Hattie chimed in again, "Josie, you need to get some rest. Pregnant women shouldn’t stay up late, you know."
Then she turned to Oliver, "Make sure Josie doesn’t overdo it, alright?"
"Don’t worry, Mom. I’ve got this," Oliver assured her, gently pulling Josefina to her feet and leading her upstairs.
Once Oliver and Josefina were out of earshot, Dorian spoke up. "I’ve heard that Cole and Wilder have joined the Harrison family business, trying to clean up Dominic’s mess. Wilder’s still finding his feet. Doesn’t seem like he’s got the hang of business yet."
Garrett chuckled, "Well, it’s just as well. Oliver’s doing wonders with the Baldwin family. Anyone else and who knows where we’d be."
They all shared a knowing smile, united by their hope for Josefina's happiness.
...
Livia was stunned by his sudden moves, eyes wide in disbelief. "Finley, don’t think that just because I showed you a little kindness, you can take liberties!"
Her words seemed to spark something in Finley, and he kissed her with the intensity of a storm.
Livia’s eyes flew open in shock. With a mighty shove, she freed herself and stood up, giving Finley a swift kick for good measure.
Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, she frowned. "Finley, you’ve got some nerve."
She picked up her phone and called Finley’s bodyguard, instructing him to come upstairs and collect his boss. It wasn’t long before there was a knock at her door.
"Take him away," she ordered. "And let him know if he bothers me again, I’ll disappear, and he won’t find me!"
